Hello all! Fell to occasional lurking for a little while there. Been busy exploring other sites and IRL stuff. Looks like there have been some interesting developments since I was last around...

On topic, I'm pretty great recently. Writing lots, and seeing a lovely woman, and earning enough to eat and drink.

Cambo! We've missed you! Glad to hear things are going well.

Stevie, I don't hate sports, really. Mainly, I hate (American) football. Just never got into any other pro sports, except for hockey (where my loyalties are divided between the Capitals and the Avalanche).

Yeah, no kidding. I *knew* I shoulda done that apartment rededication ritual, but time got away from me. I thought about getting a 2-bedroom when Magickmaker first moved home, but my rent would go up by at least $400/mo. :(

Have you thought of having Magickmaker pay the extra? $400/mo. is cheap rent. :D

I'm kind of ready for school to open, and kind of freaking about my new teaching position. It's just a whole new thing, exciting and scary at the same time. :D

We did talk about it, but at the time she wasn't working -- and then after she got a job, the living arrangement wasn't working. ;) She moved out in April and is now living with two of her friends from work.

The other thing is that I got very used to having my own space while both of them were away at college. Having a spare bedroom seems like it would encourage somebody to move into it, and I'm not too crazy about the idea. ;)

Anyway, good luck with the new age group. 8)

SB, here's how the football thing happened: When I was in high school, I was in marching band. We had to attend every home game -- rain, snow, you name it, we had to be there. And our team was abysmal. So it just wasn't any fun for me. Then when I went to college, I attended Indiana U., back when Lee Corso was the coach and our team was, if not abysmal, still not great. So I didn't pick up the football habit there, either. I do, however, have a fondness for IU basketball.

Still can't get myself to decide to make on offer on the place I liked. It's too much money, too important a decision. Arg.

Just back from another funeral. This time the husband of our neighbour from 1973-1980. They moved near to us a few years ago and we've always kept in touch. Good to see the daughter with her 4 daughters and the son with his 4 sons after all this time. And some other people who we hadn't seen for years. I shall have to pop round more often now.

Thanks Ali. I'm afraid when you get to my age it gets to be a regular occurence. It was a bit surreal that Keith's mother was at his funeral. He was 69, she is 99!

 Yeah, I'm a little alarmed by how many conversations in my age cohort consist of discussions about our various illnesses. I have to assume the funeral/reunion thing is the next step.

Great news.. My wife and I found out last week that our daughter is pregnant! I would prefer she and her BF of many years get married but I couldn't be happier for them. They surprised us by being mature enough to have an actual plan. They are both staying in school although Ashley will need to skip spring semester next year. Her BF is going to continue forward in getting his Masters degree.

Funny, I'm not telling her but I had it figured out already. She is only 15 weeks or so along, but I saw stuff that made me think, hmmm I wonder if. I shared that I was thinking that our daughter might be pregnant with my wife on the way to work one morning and that evening they came over for dinner and told us. We did our best to act surprised. :)

 Here's to being a Grandparent!

Apropos of nothing, today I noticed this lyric in the song Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) by My Chemical Romance: Remember when you were a madman/thought you was Batman/and hit the party with a gas can. One of those odd coincidences that's interesting in hindsight.

That's actually kind of freaky, Murrin. 8O

Congrats, SB! A toast to grandparents (and may I not be one for awhile yet!):
