Linna .. its great when someone else does or helps with the clean up. I totally get you .. we started doing birthday parties off site in a park or playground for that very reason. Wed do a simple BBQ, all kids love sausages in bread .. and Id bring drinks and a cake
Yeah we go out and meet new clients and their furkids before we start a job. They show us the lay of the land, where feed us stored etc .. re horses, everyone has their own way .. walk perimeters, identify water sources. In the country everyone has diff set ups .. we have a bore and pump, some pump from dams, some have tanks with hoses etc... and different water pressures . we do it pretty professionally.. well thats what we are going for .. so we have a uniform with our business name and logo on it .. its how we roll
Then collect keys and any late notice instructions. We never kick off a job on the day of a job.

Ok so all the furkids share the bed with me .. thats three doggos and 2cats .. all good. So we all finally drop off .. then at 3am I am woken by a dog wretching.. yup vomits all over me
The good news .. he doesnt vomit on the bed at all ... phew ... good news eh
So all I have to do is shower and change and crawl back into bed .... I wouldnt have been happy if I had to strip the bed and clean the mattress.
Simples

Ahhh the fun and exploits of an animal minder

Oh, yuck. I'm a very light sleeper and I have lightning-fast reflexes when one of mine starts making urpy noises in the middle of the night. My most hairball-prone (who fortunately loves being brushed) was a very fast learner and will voluntarily decamp to barf under the bed - which isn't 100% ideal, but better under than on.

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

I say I'd be more comfortable without a 14lb cat 'sharing' my pillow, but I always miss her on the rare occasion she decides to sleep in her own bed.Avatar wrote:Relaxing in bed without any worries.

But you do miss it
I have a 35llb kelpie x heeler on my lap. Shes in heart failure .. has been for months now. Shes on heart meds and pain meds .. shes clearly uncomfortable today. I have instructions to take her to the vet if she suffers a seizure or another stroke. To be put down.
Which to date, she hasnt.. Ive given her an extra pain med .. but I dont want to take her to the local vet unless she is obvious pain and distress, knowing itll be her last trip.
I carry her, up and down steps .. and although her back legs dont work brilliantly.. arthritis plus side affect of the pain med.. she staggers herself around.
I can tell when shes in pain as she pants .. or whines. She hasnt been crying or whining and still has a very healthy appetite tucking into breakfast and treats.
I feel if she begins to suffer, I will have no choice .. but she is also an attention seeker .. as she has cheekily played me before, as I would give her chicken and massages, which she loves and Im very happy to provide.
Its tuff though ..

Well, here's hoping you won't have to.
Thursday now, and roll on the weekend.
On the downside, a very old friend of mines mother just died, and he's come over from the US for the funeral on Friday, which I'm going to have to attend.
He's one of those people who it's a lot easier to be friends with when they live on another continent, so even though I haven't seen him for 5 years, mixed emotions abound...

Today, I am scared but optimistic. Menolly had a biopsy result come back today. She has consultations next week with a surgeon and a radiologist.
She's already survived thyroid cancer diagnosed in 2011 and leukemia diagnosed last year. Dam-sel beat thyroid cancer in the '80s. Dam-et is in remission from leukemia diagnosed in 2013. This latest assault by cancer is no stranger to us...but it never gets easier.
My litany to all of them has been "Worry is a waste of good imagination." Sometimes I struggle to follow my own advice.
Your prayers, love, light, and song are appreciated.
