Wishing you a swift cold recovery Ali. Personally I like that sleepy feeling, especially at work ;-)

Nice bookshelves Iolanthe. Is that frosted glass on them or just the way the photo looks?

I forgot to upload this photo before. When I was putting them together, I had a supervisor/shelf structural-integrity-tester for each bookcase.

Agreed.

Besides, wouldn't it be sociopathic to not be on FB, rather than psychopathic?
Either/or, methinks. But I'm sure the article said psychopath. They mentioned that a couple of mass murderers, one of whom was the guy in Norway, didn't have a FB account.

Nice shelves. I can't separate books like that though. Not that it's a problem for me...my biggest worry is running out of floor space where my books are getting piled. I need more shelves, but I don't have room for them, what with my other shelves. :D

(Oh yeah...I don't have a Face Book account. )

Yeah I was running out of space too. These three are in addition to three other bigger ones. And of course you have more room for shelves. Clean out your pantry and put them in there. Food? Just take a book and eat out

The separation was a real issue actually. It feels kind of blasphemous to sort by colour over content. Fiction next to non-fiction, authors flung far and wide. But I'm thinking it's character building, for them and for me. Perhaps they'll make new friends, or crossbreed.

Obviously, or you wouldn't have put a space in the middle of facebook

Not really frosted, just patterned. Nice cat!

Yes, Ali, hope the cold doesn't overdevelop.

I'd prefer Google+ if I could find a reason to use it, other than for +1-ing things I see online. (I like the Circles idea, but I guess it could use better integration with other Google services. Like using Youtube for video uploads instead of its own thing. Guess it's the anti-monopoly stuff that makes them keep all the accounts nominally seperate, though.)

---

In other news, I'm back in England. Krakow was nice, though very hot. On Monday we went to Auschwitz and Birkenau, which was... much bigger than we were expecting.

Forgot to say I like your kitty, Shaun. :)

Sarge -- whoo hoo! Sleep is a fine thing! :)

I'd prefer Google+ if more people were on it. Google seems to be better at monetizing their services without being doinks about it. So far.

Hi people, I haven't completely disappeared!

A number of wacky things have been happening in the last few weeks:
* I sent my first-born son off to Kindergarten. (Terrifying!) The child has returned alive two school-days in a row, so here's hoping my mothers' fears are unfounded..
* My family planned a vacation over the weekend... up until now.. we've seldom done vacations, so that's good.
* I "rediscovered" a mud my husband and I used to play, and we've been playing it... a good bit.
Avatar wrote:(Oh yeah...I don't have a Face Book account. )
 My husband's planning to hold off for as long as the costs seem to outweigh potential good.
Which could be... a long time, or for good..
Same with a cell phone... (though we doubt we can avoid that one permanently.)

Edit: After I said that I saw this:
I think, researchers that concluded that anybody today who doesn't yet have a Facebook account is likely a psychopath.
Pshhh... so they're saying that certain probabilities are higher when you compare the pool of people not on FB with the pool of people who are on FB, right?
(granted, making a statement like that is not usually socially-accepted...)

Linna! :D Great to see you about!

Now...what exactly is a "mud" and why does it inspire devil horns, hmmm?

Hey, Cambo! :D It's an online game... text-based, and has both role-playing and player-killing.

But the devil-horns are because it can be such an enormous time-sink, and because of its "old-school" nerdiness.

I think perhaps I put the "twisted" face for entirely different categories of things than most people do!

Hurray, Murrin! Welcome to the wonderful world of owing money to the bank. ;)

Linna! I confess that I too wondered why you and your hubs were playing in mud. And yeah, cell phones become more indispensable as the kids get older. You've got a while yet, I think.

lorin and Sorus, you can follow my sample - just not post to Facebook anything you don't want the Big Brother to see.

Morning, I can connect with a Facebook profile, if that's of any interest - I don't use it much, unless for technical reasons and specific purposes, like access to apps and the like. May I ask - what is that with one thing instead of many, if you don't mind telling?

Shaun, custom covers for series may help, maybe hand-made. Lovely cat)

aliantha, get better soon :bestwishes:

Murrin, I have a few accounts on Google+ as well, didn't dig deep, convenient for some things, but mostly those same "+1" and that I log in to YouTube simultaneously with it. And congrats on the flat :bestwishes:

Sarge, glad for you)

Linna, Do you remember the Bad Illustrating Contest?

Mortgage applied for. And the fee-paying has begun.

Eff: I just kinda +1 anything I think is interesting and worth sharing, since I can rarely be bothered to collate a blog post of links or tweet them. Unfortunately, I only have 2 people connected to me on G+, and the +1 page is hidden away somewhere I'm not sure it can be found, so it's kinda pointless. (My +1s. Not sure if that works.)

Tomorrow I have to buy nit shampoo. The grandchildren have just had them and I have started itching. Bring back the nit nurse, I say. :(

I don't think so. Can't see any, but they are difficult to spot until you get a lot. Both of mine had them, twice, whilst at school. Anyway, better safe than sorry, eh?
