Things:
1. Tomorrow's the day. Getting the keys to my place. Still have no furniture, other than a bed being delivered on Thursday. Not getting much reading done or anything else, partly because of looking for things I need for the move. Busy busy.

2. Just came across this, which is awesome and despite some dark themes I think could cheer anyone up.

Both my little fingers are very sore. Yesterday I did a lot of typing into excel and copying down (Ctrl+D) for which I use my left little finger, and this afternoon I've done 2 hours piano practice for a rehearsal tonight and my right little finger has been picking out the tune above everything else. I should get more practice at both! Still, I get to play White Christmas and Chestnuts Roasting by an Open Fire. :D
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

I thought I told you guys to stop being sick.

NaNo is done for me, tra la, tra la. :rockband: :letsparty:
Not quite 53K words. Stayed up 'til 2:30am to finish writing, then to paste the chapters into a consolidated file and validate the word count. I am pretty much dead on my feet today. :Z:

Also, I was supposed to have a four-day weekend for Thanksgiving, but I got asked to come in on Friday. I get double-time for it, but still. And in addition to all that, Magickmaker brought her kitty over on Thursday to keep Mr. Wommy company 'til my daughters can get an apartment together in the spring. The Lady Morgana has become extremely grumpy since moving out with Magickmaker; one of her roommates has two cats, and Morgana has never learned to get along with them (partly because Magickmaker kept Morgan isolated in her room for way too long, but anyway). Morgana and Mr. Wommy were buddies before, but it's been several years. Still, if anybody can break her of her crankiness, it's the Wommy Man. :) The first night was bad, with several hissing/yowling episodes in my room while I was trying to sleep. But they seem to have worked that out. And Morgan actually came out and ate her dinner next to Mr. Wommy last night -- for about 30 seconds, until he decided to stick his nose in her bowl, at which point she hissed and ran. But, y'know, baby steps. ;) I figure they'll be best buds again very shortly.

Got my keys today and visited the flat. Needs a good clean, especially things like the oven and fridge. There was a small pile of used disposable contact lenses in one corner of the bedroom. The freezer drawers are all shattered. There was a small drip coming from the boiler when we put the heating on for ten minutes or so.

Overall, though, it's good. I still have no furniture other than the bed being delivered Thursday.

How many rooms, Murrin? Were you in furnished before? We used to have tea chests to pack up for moving, and they served as good "chairs" temporarily. :D Mind you, we've only ever moved twice - once from rented furnished, and second time from our first house to this one.

Going from living with parents to first place of my own, so need to buy everything new.

Started packing already, even though I don't know when I'm moving. Got my CDs and DVDs all stored away in plastic bins, and one big cardboard box of my larger books. Lots more books with nothing to pack them in, and no bookcases at the flat either, so they're not moving for a while. Just been sorting out old clothes to throw out/donate rather than take with.

A wise choice. :D I suppose you don't have all that much stuff yet though.

It will build up surprisingly quickly once you're in your own place though.

I hate moving. I hate it with a passion. I swore the next time I will pay somebody else to do everything, including pack.

My daughter pointed out that our house in Africa is the place she lived the longest in her life, 6 years! We had to move WAY too many times when the kids were growing up. Next year she'll be leaving for college so that'll be the end of that era for her. :(

The thing about every move we made seemed to be that we left our place immaculate (fridge, oven, baths, everything), and then had to clean the place we moved into because the previous people had just left it anyhow. :x

Feeling tons better, thank you. And glad to hear you are on the mend too, null.

Tired. And a little grumpy, but not that grumpy :) More miffed. I was just beaten by a bloody 18 year old punk at squash tonight (he's a nice chap, but still...). Reminds me of my fading fitness.

Ah well, she'll be right. Work's scratchy, fitness is fading, but Christmas break is coming. So there's a reason to feel good!

Window installation days start today. I'm having them all replaced in the house where they've served for almost 50 years, but it's time to invest in some energy efficiency. They are estimating two to three days to complete. The big problems for me are getting my ham radio equipment out of the way and finessing the installation around the new cat, who for the most part has been staying in the spare bedroom while he acclimates to the other two.

On a personal front, without the admittedly minimal one to two times a week golfing nine holes of summer, I've been feeling a little rundown. I need to be getting out and doing something, though oncoming winter narrows those options.

Ah, important things first, eh?

Damelon, we are expecting 2 new windows and a new front door any time now - just waiting to hear that they are ready to be fitted. I've known the chap who is fitting them since he was 18 months old - he has his own business now.

If I was doing the important stuff first I wouldn't still be bookcase-less. ;)

Got bed, sofa, desk, computer chair on order. Need wardrobes & drawers, TV stand, DVD cupboard, CD cupboard, bookcases.
