Bumped for Rigel:

This is the definitive FAQ for the Stores and Points system being used here at KW. I will try and update it as things change. If you have any questions, suggestions, or issues related to the above then ask them in this post. Any posts and commentary anywhere else will be obliterated.

What are Points and how do I get them?

Points are essentially a "reward" system for contributing to the content here at KW. Points are earned for either starting topics or for replying to topics.

How many points do I get for posting?

It's a complex formula that may change at the discretion of the admins so please don't ask for more detail because I won't be providing any.

What are the various types of points and how do they work?
We currently have the following points in operation:

WGD's - otherwise known as White Gold Dollars. These are the main currency at KW. They are earned for posting in all forums except for Mallory's and the Gravin Threndor forums

Tokens - earned for posting in Mallory's (previously called Junk Bonds)

HP - earned for posting in the Gravin Threndor forums

How can I view how many points I have?

Look at your user profile or look under your avatar. The point types earned will only be visible when you view a post of yours in the forums that they are earned.

How does the donation system work?

If you donate any points to any user, they will receive a PM from you so that they know who donated the points - but apparently only if you provide a reason for donating them. Do NOT solicit donations in the forums

Can I exchange one type of points for another?

No

What do I do with my points?

Click on the stores links. If you have enough points, you can buy items from the various stores. You need the right type of points to purchase items from the various stores and you obviously need enough points. We don't extend credit as our main benefactor - Citibank - is having a few problems with liquidity

When will the stores be stocked?

We will gradually add items to the stores as time permits. You can buy a few items right now

How do I display my items?

You can only display 3 items in the posts. To display an item, click on the Items link under the banner, select the items you want to view, and then click the Set Threads button. If that doesn't work then you've done something wrong so try doing it again

Can I see a summary of what items belong to which users?

No

Can I suggest store items?

Absolutely. Ask in this post and we will consider adding them. Just remember that creating them is a tad time consuming so don't expect them to be up and running in a jiffy. If you feel the need to create items then send me a PM and I can provide you with the details for creating them.

How do I sell my items back to the store?

Not all items have a re-sale value but can still be "sold" back to the store. To do this, click on the Store link and then on the store you bought the item from. Scroll to the bottom and click on Sell Item. Then put in the number of items you want to sell and click the sell button. Follow instructions from there

My item disappeared...what the hell !?!??

You bought an item that's designed to expire.

Does this mean I can spam KW to increase my points?

Don't be silly.

If I spot a spammer, can I call them out?

No. You really should have better things to do with your time that shining a light on any spamming activity. The admins will use their discretion to prevent any gains made from spamming

What do I do if I think this whole thing sucks?

I dunno - form a support group?

What do I do if I get obsessed about how many points and shiny store items that I - or other people - have?

Seek professional help. Seriously.

I didn't get the points I should have received for my post - what should I do?

Ooops. Think of it as Taxes and move on. Additional note here is that the mod only works for users that have the subsilver template set in their profiles.

Will bribery work to get items that I want?

No....sadly no

The Sudoku game says I get WGD's but I don't get any.....why?

It's broken. WGD's don't accumulate for playing Sudoku. Sorry

Small trivia fact, the no solicitation rule in forums was added after my first attempt at raising the scrillah for the white gold ring...
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

What I am willing to do is accept images from you - with an idea for an item linked to them.

Be aware that the items aren't huge in size so sending/pointing me to a massive image and saying "make an item out of that" is probably not going to happen

If you have your own creations, point me to them and I'll see what I can do with them :)
Not sure if this idea warrants posting (or if I should've just kept it in my head!) but I thought earlier of a slight play on "Kevin's Watch". Not sure what anyone else will think of it, but I suppose at least it got a "heh" out of me!

Kevin's Swatch
"Because even the powerful Old Lords needed the time." (or something like/completely different to that - just thought I should provide some sort of description)

Since of course, Swatch is a brand of wrist watches that's been around for a good while now, and are sometimes referred to with that name. If the idea actually IS liked, I guess then I can worry about cobbling together an image, haha

I like it. But I'm afraid the chances of getting it added at the moment are probably...uh...fairly minimal...

Blame Jay and Vain.

How about getting the 2012 Watchy item into the Store before the 2013 Watchy cycle starts?

Apparently this is not among Av's awesome celestial powers. Only Vain and Jay can, and they are not so omnipresent as Av...or others to whom the "omnipresent" adjective has been applied.
