I also certainly find the Ravers quite an interesting facet to the series.
I'm eager to find out what gears they oil in the final chronicles (got a few good glimpses from Runes, hehe).
I wonder how they came to be how they are... because the Ravers came about long long before the Law of Death or Life were broken. Are their current forms "spirits" of a more earthly body they once had (which seems to be indicated by the story) or were they always like this? I think I also remember it being suggested that the Ravers were actually a product of Man.

In the first books they referred to the Ravers as 3 brothers but didn't really explain who they were or why. It states that these brothers were always corupt but doesn't say if they were human or not and if death couldn't hold them.
Wayfriend's post above from RoE tells that the brothers were personfications of the evil done to the lower lands forest by the early settlers. The unmalious cutting of trees was an evil precived by the one forest. It was the evilness that could have been made whole by Earthpower itself.
The one forest lacking in knowledge of itself was made aware by an Elohim. The one Forest then in turn became aware and knowlegeable of it possible power. It slowly tranformed the Elohim and incorporated it into the Colossus. The Colossus then interdicted the evil that was spreading in the lower plane from reaching the upper.
But by that time the Ravers had become sentinet and malious was their Wurd. Indications is that they themselves came from the Spoiled Plains and spread their influence from there. Depleating any trees in the Lower Land.
It looks like the Forestals were formed after many centries of human encrouchment onto the Upper Land. Not by Raver's malious but by need and human ignorance. The Forest needed to protect itself because it's speech like Stone was slow and humans were there for briefs moments of time. It wan't until the Lords did they see the damage they did and tried to change.

In the Runes forum I threw out the idea that the mother of the triplets is (or became) the Lurker of the Sarangrave...

That could also explain Linden's comparison of the Sangrave to a Raver, but less "specific".

My interpretation of Linden's comment is that the evil in the Sarangrave is a form of possession, a possession of the eco-system (if you will) by an evil essence of some sort. But it's less specific - it is less directly conscious, has less specific intentions. It's not a "person" in the sense that Ravers are.

True, Wayfriend, but the point wasn't that it is a raver, rather that it could be their unknown "mother" i.e. what gave birth to them.

I still think the Lurker began as a person-an evil transformed that person, long, long ago into the Sarangrave. It's possible that if a terrible evil "lurked" in her womb that it would have massive, yet different, effects on her...

I didn't think your point was that it is a raver; my point was that Linden's comment is sufficiently explicable without it being a hint about a "mother".
I think Ravers' Mother is the COTC balrog wings. One sentence, which some can accept as figurative, but which others take more literally.
