Not so far. And we don't have a very good E-fest track record with alcoholic fruit. But if you've got a recipe...wayfriend wrote:Has anyone ever made aliantharitas yet? I presume you would know ...aliantha wrote:there's usually a barbecue at danlo's on Friday night

I've been watching prices for over a week and they're not coming down, still in the $500 range round trip for me. I've looked at flying from Atlanta or Nashville and it's not any better.rdhopeca wrote:I've booked a hotel room. Now if the price of flights come down from $500 I'll see about booking the plane flight...
Does anyone that went to E'fest '07 remember which hotel we stayed at?

Was that the very first one? I didn't get to go.
Airline prices have gone through the roof over the past few years. Not many bargains to be had anymore. It sucks.

I feel like I did pretty good, about 150.00 less than last year when I went to NM. 336 round trip plus one free piece of check-in luggage each way. I personally don't believe prices on airfare get better as the date gets closer. You can get last minute cars and lodging last minute but airfare only seems to rise.aliantha wrote: Airline prices have gone through the roof over the past few years. No, that was '04. This was the one in the summer before FR was released. I'm pretty sure you were in a tent in Danlo's backyard.aliantha wrote:Was that the very first one? I didn't get to go.

Placet, Magister...but if it is indeed the prefect venue, we will have to be on our best behavior.

We didn't have prefects in the schools I attended. Must be a British thing...Iolanthe wrote:Luckily, I still have my prefect badge from school! Shall I bring it??

well yes, the Ford Prefect was a British thing, and alas I was long gone from high school by the time Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy came out.

So, took the next step this evening and registered with ESTA, the online site for visa waivers for travel to the US.
I have the money together for the trip, so now it's a case of deciding how long I'm going to stay for and booking the flights and hotels. I'd hope to get in on the Wednesday or Thursday before the 23 June and then tour around for a week or more afterwards. I'd be interested in seeing Taos as well if there was a gang going. I have it in mind to see the Panhandle (since I'm in the vicinity) so I could use Taos as my base for heading out into the back-of-beyonds.* (We're used to the back-of-beyonds here in Ireland )
I sense a plan forming

*Then If I have time, I wouldn't mind heading down to Mexico (again seeing as I'm in the vicinity).

I'm getting in on the 17th (which happens to be my birthday ) and staying until the next Thursday. Ali, Iolanthe and I are heading up to Taos, Santa Fe and Ojo Caliente after the fest.ussusimiel wrote:So, took the next step this evening and registered with ESTA, the online site for visa waivers for travel to the US.
