Who is the better captain?
Moderator: aTOMiC
I may get tossed to a Gorn for saying this, but I felt all the Next Gen Trek movies (that I've seen) were disappointments. Insurrection was simply the last straw for me. Which is why I'm in no rush to get a copy of Nemesis. When it airs on TV, yeah, I'll tune in to check it out -- if I don't have anything better to do...
Heh, here I am, a mod of this forum, and I'm dissing Star Trek. But aTOMiC is the true Trek fan here. I'm really a Star Wars guy. TOM can defend Star Trek and I'll defend Star Wars.

I'm with MM. The last Trek film I enjoyed was ST:VI

The Borg were absolutely atrocious in that movie - for instance, the radar dish sequence; how can any advanced race act that stupid? I stopped watching Insurrection when I saw the Enterprise fly past a nebula that was hundreds of light years tall - meaning either it had shrunk or that the Enterprise was several light years in size.Matrixman wrote:First Contact seemed good at first, until I realized how moronic it was. Now I hate it and Insurrection the way other people hate the Star Wars prequels.

I don't mind being labelled a Trekker and Matrix is correct in pointing out that I tend to be more of the Star Trek guy. My opinion (which has been stated more times than I care to imagine elswhere in this forum) is this. I generally go with the perception that there have been Star Trek films, usually falling on the odd number, that have fallen short of the usual quality. I happen to like ST1 so I don't count that one. ST3 is a bit weak. ST5 is just insulting. ST7 is a bit awkward changing of the guard. ST9 would have made a nice series episode but failed as a feature film. Then comes ST10. A terrific concept but the execution is both brilliant and idiotic at times. The director knows just enough about Star Trek to be dangerous. A missed opportunity to be sure. IMHO.

First Contact is the last one I saw; like MM, I liked it better the first time; I still like the Zephran Cochran scenes well enough, but the main Borg chick's attempted seduction of Data just wasn't done that well at all.

What does all this yackity yack about Nemesis, First Contact and Borg women have to do with the Best Captain? Not much. As of this morning I'm going to have to change my original answer and shift my vote in the corner of Captain Crunch. Dude just rocks and his cereal rips the roof of my mouth to shreads every time. What a mean mo he he is.
