Hey Newbies, over here first Come on in and tell us more about yourself. IMPORTANT: For new members, please read "New Members Only" BEFORE registering.
I was Dark Maiden on several of my other communities, though I have since changed that to Dani, the Dark Maiden. I had a habit of changing my name every other day when I first came online. I finally settled on the one my mom gave me when I was born--Dani. It is short, simple, and I'm usually the only one around.
I named myself Dark Maiden originally because I am decidedly female and somewhat naive (thus, I didn't choose Dark Matron, Queen, etc). I chose Dark because I sometimes come across as all giddy and bubbly--which is not a true representation at all--so I wanted to forewarn all who talked with me that I was NOT all happiness and light
There was one benefit to changing my name every other day. Those names ended up being characters in my writing because all of them seemed to deserve to have their stories told So now I'm just Dani, and I save all of my creative names for the characters running around in my head.
DukkhaWaynhim, chosen because
1) I am Weird [I like the multiple meanings SRD fuses together here: word, wurd, ward?, wyrm, and just plain weird]
2) I was warped [my own multiple meaning- "warped" forward at an early age with a tremendous vocabulary thanks to SRD's thesaurus-novels, a masterwork of word-painting which for me was, is, and ever will be better than any poetry; 'warped' at an early age by dark fantasy and the anti-hero, so cream-puff fantasy now leaves a bad taste; and of course, warped by the power of the Illearth Stone to be a tool of the Despiser], and
3) I am a *Wild-card* [this spot left Wide open for any Word Which Whets my appetite for Wackiness, Worldliness, Wordiness, or any other 'W' Whim] DW

Cheval is an old nickname from high-school football.
I was hard to tackle... good sense of balance (Maybe 'cause I'm a Libra? Ha-ha)
It is French for "Horse" and is pronounced "Sha-val"

Good point. But I didn't think of picking him for an avatar until a couple of weeks ago (after the other P&P-avatars started dripping in), and it would seem daft to just change my name.
Ur-Vile wrote:He'll be back now - i'm concerned some people will be offended with Marilyn Manson. Plus, Darcy is great.
Offended?? You're just confusing me more and more. (I wasn't even sure who the new pic was - just some poncy git in whiteface instead of a guy with some dress sense and style. But he's back now, so...)
My nickname has a long story... to make it short though, I originally picked it up from the Weis and Hickman series, "The Death's Gate Cycle", where it belonged to a mage lord, and I used it first for a very old character of mine in a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, seven or eight years ago, Xar Greyhawk. When the campaign finished, the name had stuck so much that I found myself using it as an email address, and eventually as a nickname in message boards. I've kept using it since then
Hehe... I chose rillinlure because I feel it was quite underrated and underused in the book. The dust has the same power as hurtloam yet was only used (to my recollection) once, and that was when they put it in the army's food in TIW. Plus the nick was available, and it just kind of flows... "rrrrrrillinlurrrrrre...." It kind of purrs, doesn't it?
I have made a small (and flawed) list of the good guys vs the bad guys on the Watch:
Good Guys:
Heartcoal, Giantfriend, Aliantha (must be good, or?), Foamfollower, Bannor, Seadreamer, Variol son, Thorm, Pitchwife, Trell, Strider (what is he doing here? I thought those rangers had better sense of direction), Brinn, Lord Mhoram, Prothall, Landwaster (or is he bad?), Damelon, Drinny, Myrrha, Gandalf (another one lost?), Gerade, Loric, Atiaran, Callindrill, Verement, Terisa, Terrel, Trevor, Triock, Mistweave, Tull, Memla, Dukkha, Jeherrin (?), Korik (or? I like to think of all the bloodguard as good), Durris, Berek and Runnik.
Then there are a lot in-betweens (appart from all the natural phenomenons and locations): Amok, Hile Troy, Ak Haru, Findail, Vain, Angus Thermopyle, Covenant jr, Caer Caeveral, Caer Sylvanus, Sandgorgon Herbst and Nom, Elena (I never understood her), Elega, Linden Avery and Thomas Covenant.
Then the truly bad guys:'
Samadih, Holt Fasner, Sivith Na Mhoram, Ur-Vile, Jehannum, Moksha, Turiya, Satansheart, Flesharrower, Drool Rockworm, Kasereyn, Kinislaughterer, Kresh, Corruption, Lord Foul and Sheol.
Then is of course the question if we are allowed to count all the ravers names or not...
Anyway it seems like an outstanding victory for the good guys! 37 vs 17...
