I'm trying to think of another clue that won't give it away.

Let's see... Intertech developed the immunity drug. This is pre-contact with the Amnion, so obviously the answer isn't directly related to that.

The answer is at least in the same neighborhood of research, however.

As I went through the clues, I became sure that SOD CMOS chips/datacores was the answer. But then I got to your avatar clue, and I assumed the connection was over my head.
