A stress fracture isn't really a full on break, though, and last time I had almost the exact same thing happening the doctors were completely useless.

Yeah, not much they can do even for a proper break...just have to limp around until it's healed.

Thursday already...week is flying by...

HAHAHA .. ahhhh ever compassionate Avster ;) :LOLS:

But you😂re right not much can be done with a fracture or break in the foot. I broke two toes and had to hobble about on crutches .. they couldnt do anything for them at all .. just let them heal.

My daughter broke her ankle jumping over a small tuft of grass .. she wailed and wanted to go to the hospital. I was convinced she had simply sprained it and kinda was like .. nah well just ice it and keep it elevated .. but the girl has never been good with pain. So we took her to the hospital ..

Turns out she had broken it 😂 🙄 .. probably did it on the way in the car just to stick it to me LOL 😂 for telling her its nothing to worry about

So theres not much they can do with a ankle break either .. unless you break it in JUST the right spot ... they can do surgery and put screws and pins in .. yeah she broke it in JUST the right spot ..

So was admitted to an orthapedic surgeon in another hospital on the OTHER side of town .. where she ended up for a week. Of course I slept there with her .. they rolled me in a trundle bed and I slept there with her the whole time she was in.

Yeah that was fun ..

I went to the recovery area after her surgery and when I saw her all white and attached to stuff .. I literally passed out. HAHA .. so all the nurses left her side and rushed to me .. lol .. I think it was just the shock of seeing her like that .. and the stress of the past few days, looking after a snappy teenage girl LOL 😂 Not my finest moment..

Noting that I picked up body parts for a living, dealt with accident injuries, homicides, lifting deceased bodies into body bags that had been percolating too long and began stretching, you name it .. and never even threw up, as many others had over the years.

🤷‍♀️

Sorry Sorus did I promise not to use the word percolating?

It's not just that they can't do anything about it (crutches would be nice, but I hear the NHS only hands those out for major breaks these days), but they can't even tell it's there. Stress fractures are too small to show up on x-rays, can only sometimes see them when they've started to heal.

I've taken a day off work to give it a bit of a rest today. Comes out of my holidays because it's not enough to justify a sick day, but that's fine, I usually use my holidays for odd days in the house anyway.

Good move Murrin. Resting it is probably a brilliant idea.

Surprising about your sick leave .. here you can have a sickie if you just need a break .. often called a mental health day lol 😂 .. well being as well as wellness as well as a sickie for being physically sick.

I probably could get away with it, but strictly speaking not being able to walk doesn't affect my ability to do my job, and I'm not in pain while sitting still, haha.

I think it's inseparable from the context at this point.

Here you're supposed to actually be sick, but you don't need a doctors note unless you're off sick for more than 2 consecutive days, or more than twice in 2 months, so people tend to abuse them. Legally you're allowed 30 paid sick days in a 3 year cycle. (I don't know why they don't make it 10 per year, but whatever...)

I very rarely take one myself...probably not more than 2 or 3 a year, and even then I have to be pretty sick.

Anyway, weekend. Soon. Hooray.

Yeah we accumulate 10 sick days a year - mine keeps accumulating, I have about 45 days so far. Of course, I don't take sick leave because it's my business (with a couple of others) so I never really leave work :D

I do have a few employees that take their fair share - one is in the negative.

Friday! Yippe - World Cup - woo hoo. I'm gonna be tired by Monday!

It was momentary but I did take an aspirin later in the day. I am doe to see the doctor soon, so I'll make a note of that.

Yesterday I visited the Cancer Care Boutique at the Halverson Cancer wing inside Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland. I left with a clean, donated black surgical camisole, a couple of pillow padding, and a purple snap up shirt to wear over, should I choose to do so.
The cami is actually pretty stylish, IMO. The built in drain holders will make it easier to get around, once I'm up and about.
The purple cover up will come in handy whenever I go visit LWHS. The color would be perfect for a spirit day.

LWHS is Lake Washington High School, for those who wondered. Purple also works for University of Washington...not that our Gator Girl would cite that.

When I read this, my first thought was "that's how you know it's gettin' serious."

When I had my appointment at a similar place, (early 2015 probably in Jan or Feb) I felt really really cared for.
I got a wig which was a shade of light brown that my hair has never been, and so... while bald, I got to have this totally different 'do when I chose to wear it.
They also gave me a cute red hat.
