It'll be liberating when I can stop wearing this damn athletic supporter and go back to hangin' free, commando-style.

Congratulations Cail. Now stay away from the homemade short stories thread until your stitches are healed. You most assuredly don't want to read the one I just posted about High Lord Tolkien and Linden Avery's crepuscular love..... 8O  :D

Are you still throbbing, Cail? I have heard of guys who are fine and others who are TERRIBLE. I laid around for 1.5 days with happy pills and ice. I was pretty good.

Tell you a funny story. When I got prepped, the nurse did all she had to...I almost popped a wheelie...man that was close. Anyway, she said to me" ...the Dr. will be in in a minute or two; he is finishing his pot of coffee. "

I thought nothing of it, thinking more abouyt the procedure itself. He comes in says, "Glad to meet yo, and holds out his hand which is shaking like crazy (persumably from the caffiene)!

My eyes got real big, and then he let me off the hook saying that that is a routine he and his nurse do to eveyone.

Honestly, I was expecting this to be much, much worse. I shaved myself to avoid poking the nurse. Other than the needles for the topical numbing, I felt nothing during the procedure, though the sounds, especially the sizzling from the cauterizing, were a bit disconcerting.

I'm a little swollen, and just a bit sore, but that's it. I'll probably go back to work tomorrow.

Eh, the sizzling wasn't too bad, sort of like crotch fajitas.

In all seriousness, if you're not getting snipped because you're worried about the pain, it's nothing.

Big day for me .... let me explain.....

I've worn glasses since I was in kindergarten, 32 years. I had lazy eye/cross eye, had to wear the patch, taped glasses, do eye strengthening exercises, etc for several years in early elementary school. Back in 1993, an optometrist tried to fit me for contact lenses, but after several attempts over a couple of months, he gave up, and so did I. My extreme astigmatism is the major problem. It seems that my astigmatism is the kind that makes optometrists incontinent with excitement.

Back in December I went for an eye exam with a new optometrist in town, and at the end of the visit he asked me about contacts and I told him my story. He told me he thought he could fit me, would enjoy the challenge so if I would let him try, he wouldn't charge me for the additional visits.

So - I picked up my first trial pair of contacts today, and I can see fairly well with them, so well in fact that I'm still wearing them after 3 hours. They're not perfect, but they're dang close, closer than anything we tried years ago. I go back next Wednesday for follow up.

That's outstanding DLB. I totally take for granted that I have good eyes.

Congratulations.

Good for you Cail. Pity that most men don't think as responsibly as you do, or expect the woman to do the 'snip snip' or take the pill to stop conception. There are too many side-effects from interfering with women's 'bits' and even though your current stitches may be painful, you won't have any problems further down the track (unless you want a reversal of course!)
