Sorry, Jenn - I'd hoped you'd finally found something good.

Thank you Sorus.

My Napa outside salesman is slipping me tips and Tuesday he came in and slipped me a card with contact information for a huge shop that is looking for a service writer/parts person and also a tip on when an ad for a parts person for the city of Albuquerque bus fleet is going public. He is also going to push for me to be hired at Napa when the guy who does the regional hiring comes back next week. Even if they don't get me he is determined to help me find a better place.

On other notes, Rigel is now comfortably ensconced in my guest room. It's been fun having him here. We have checked out some new restaurants and hung out with Danlo and Lady Tam multiple times both together and separately on all four of our parts. He's been having fun bonding with Moose and Moose seems to have taken to him pretty quickly. Moose even brought Ben his bunny tonight for throwing instead of me and I was sitting right there. Tomorrow is my day off and I am pretty sure I am going to do chores but also drag Rigel out for lunch and miniature golf which apparently we both love.

And finally for those of you who don't facebook, I have had a nesting mother black chinned hummingbird in the tree out back at my work and so I have been documenting her with photos during the incubation and other processes. I have two beautiful babies and I named the mama bird Joy, which is Lady Tam's actual first name (she goes by her middle name) and I have named the babies Marisa and Isaiah after my technician Art's two youngest kids. The reason I did that is because he was teasing me that I am sooooo gonna cry when they leave the nest and he's right. My facebook is not public so it has securities on the links to my pics so I'll try to upload them later. Right now I am so dead tired and not in the mood to deal with tech stuff that it simply isn't going to happen.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Hummingbirds are fascinating. Don't think I've ever seen a baby, but I have seen nests. Never seen one building a nest; imagine that's an interesting production. My old place had a pair of mockingbirds that made their home in a holly bush in my yard - smart, on their part - it was a predator-proof fortress. They all learned to perfectly imitate my neighbor's car alarm, which was an extra-obnoxious alarm that cycled through three different tones, and that was how they greeted the dawn every darn morning.

I have a weaver who spends all spring and summer building nests in the same tree, and either tearing them down himself, or having them torn down by females for being sub-standard. :D Poor bugger.

for a couple of weeks we had a live nest in a wreath on our front door.

then one day, eggs hatched, birds flew away, we got our door back.

Ok, so I am now a month and a half into my new job. I have become a collision estimator rather than a mechanical repair estimator although the two do overlap. I seem to catch a lot of mechanical stuff that other collision estimators miss. I love it. I got a good basic training from the westside location but now I am at the eastside, the new location and my co-worker is a terrible teacher. I am pretty much winging it and have been for a couple of weeks. Luckily I am a smart cookie so I am doing just fine. When I do get hung up I just call one of the guys who helped train me at the westside and get the estimate done. I've also decided to keep trophies of my "big kills" so I now have the grille emblem off of a 55 thousand dollar 2015 Chevy SS that I killed. The car only had just over 4000 miles on it. I've also had some interesting "stories" like the "hit and run" from a Kia Soul that got totaled. Apparently they hit someone who ran a red light but the damage was totally inconsistent with the story, based on the damage to the Kia, the other vehicle should have been rendered immobile as well and there was the horrific reek of beer, like someone dumped a six pack in the front seat that was also not explained...

Other perks of my new job include a community/employee farm which is optional so you can go once a month and help or not but the perks of helping are lots of fresh veggies and fresh free range eggs every Monday. A few weeks ago I went and helped with meat chicken processing day so I eviscerated chickens and got to take home one that was the size of a small turkey. It was delicious. I made all sorts of delicious meals from it. I've also become a bit creative with some recipes from the bonanza. I made fire roasted squash risotto with sausage the other night. I also invented "Summer Squash Sausage Skiffs" by baking seeded yellow squash in the oven with blackened sausage, sliced roma tomatoes and topped with romano, parmesan and asiago mixed with panko and a little black pepper. Rigel has been enjoying his egg breakfasts made with a variety of sizes and colors of eggs. The shell colors range from green to brown to dark red. There are also two beef cows that will be doled out to people willing to participate in the butchering of the pre-killed, aged steers. Yes, I will be there for that and I'll be enjoying my standing rib roast shortly thereafter...

Other perks involve a free gym membership, 1/2 hour massages every month on the clock, excellent 401K bennies, health bennies, better pay, weekends off, onsite counseling if needed, monthly lunch on the company, birthdays and anniversaries celebrated with lunch and dessert on the company and the list goes on. Best benefit of all??? I will be putting in a beehive at the farm come spring. I'm so excited I could pee.

Other fun notes, my main body guy is named Bob and he's actually quite cynical. I have been making him laugh out loud at the creative names I have been coming up with for our wounded cars. Examples are, "Ford did NOT Escape" "Chevy Im-PALE-ah"(Impala) "The SS Crunchterprise" "The Hyndai Stopnada" (Sonata) and today's gem, the "Hyundai Speech Impediment" instead of Hyundai Accent.. Yes I am just that dorky.

Ok, Av, here we go:

So I had a lazy weekend. I ran some errands on Saturday and then just lounged. Sunday, Rigel had a friend over and they were watching some GOT episodes which was cool but I had plans with Lady Tam so I headed down and we both decided we were not feeling like going out so we decided to attack the wolf jigsaw puzzle they were struggling with. It was one of those that was all cut up in odd shapes and angles so whatever piece shape you THINK you are looking for turns out to be entirely different. Anyway, we went to town. Danlo joined us and we had a bunch of fun. While on a break we figured out dinner from the fixings in our various pantry/ refrigerators/freezers and I headed back to my place to gather my offerings. Rigel and his friend were done with their hanging out so he came down to dinner at the Danlo house. We finished the puzzle and then Lady Tam and I decided to cut some sunflowers from the garden and make a bouquet and I also made myself a silly head dress from three of them. Dinner was excellent, salmon, salad and herbed wild rice. All in all a nice weekend if relatively unproductive.

Today at work I got in and asked Shawn about this Hyundai that was totaled before I started at Quanz and he said he hadn't heard so I decided to call State Farm and ask about the status. Turns out that about a month ago they reassigned the total loss department rep and so we now have a new one. He had never even seen the file. He got into it and looked at the notes and agreed it was way overdue for settling and the hold up was the customer was balking at the payout. Apparently she is demanding 800 dollars more for the hunk of junk than fair market value. Despite the pictures of the threadbare seats, the stained carpets and rear seats (kids have trashed the back seat), the peeled clear coat on every panel from having never been waxed, all the dings and the list goes on, she's holding out. Not sure how it will be resolved but I hope he doesn't cave because the thing has been ABUSED. The same customer had a Dodge Avenger in the shop a few weeks ago. Apparently the Hyundai is her daughter's car. They both need to put the phone down and pay attention to driving... Ugh.

On other notes, Friday I had a kid in for an estimate, just seventeen years old. He wrecked his Mom's Subaru and he was so hang dog and sorry and ashamed I felt so bad for him. Fixable but he whomped it pretty good. I would bet he becomes a very good defensive driver after his lesson.

Also, slim take on the farm bounty egg wise, only eight in my box today and the general offerings were gigantic zucchini, yellow squash and more cucumbers. I would have taken some if I was not still inundated from Friday when I took all of it from the break room table because none of the guys took any...

Random stuff, Sorus Rex! I miss you too and love the cat pics you sent! Awesomesauce! Made me smile a lot today. Love you girl!

I was under the mistaken impression that I was putting pictures into an album for people to look at if they wanted, when I was actually spamming cat pictures in everyone's face and basically screaming "LOOK AT MY CATS. LOOK AT THEM."

I don't suppose it ranks very high on the list of potential faux pas, but anyway. Oops.
