What makes me feel so bad was that I couldn't get down there fast
enough to volunteer for the cleanup. They probably had enough people from the Bluegrass state and Hoosier states on top of it.
My reaction to this news was thinking about someone having to sing the full song for a song beginning with:
9000 barrels of bourbon on a wall, 9000 barrels of bourbon..
take one down, pass it around, Eight-thousand-nine-hondred-and-ninety-nine-bottles-of-bourbon-on the wall.

Well, my day was going alright or bad, or both.
Getting frustrated about things I want to do, but I'm "stuck."
Have not actually gotten "unstuck" on even one of them... unless I have and just don't know it yet.

I've also done some getting grouchy with the kids, but doing some good leadership of them... so, some of both.

Okay!

I like that you are thinking of it going with that school's colors. because work is after summer.
years ago, when a teenager at our church was going through serious, somewhat-unknown health problems, we made a gift basket for her, and I was very determined to put a calendar for the next year in there.
Then, a few years after that, when I had breast cancer, the youth of that church (though we were no longer at it) showered love on me, and gave me a gift basket, which contained, you guessed it... a calendar for the coming year.

sighh... it stinks you didn't feel like going back and being a classified sub ANYWHERE after that interaction.
Ugh...

You're in med school now... was it like, after undergrad, or during undergrad, or what? (if you permit my nosey-ness. and if you see this post... I know I don't always check up on all threads I participate in...)

So whassup Linna? What are you stuck on, maybe we can help. Who knows, someone may have been where you are and it might help to look at how they got through them.

I love that you got that gift basket and calendar 📆 great story and quite touching.

More for those who are. Even for those not enthused by that spirit, losing the equivalent of 2,475,000 standard bottles is a huge waste of the distiller's craft.

I apologize for not paying enough attention, but what among the continuum of whisk(e)ys do you favor? Or are you just not a "brown booze" person?

Not generally, although I won't say no to a nice 10 year old Laphroaig if you offered me one. :D

Mostly I drink wine or beer, and very occasionally white spirits like gin or vodka.

I actually found a citrus tonic water the other day, so planning a G&T in the near future...if it wasn't so cold...

I cannot promise how I will feel, but I will keep Watchers informed. Between Dam-sel and me, we will also update the FB threads about this.

For those who want to say a mesheberach or other formal prayer, Menolly's Hebrew name is Piyah Frimah bas Chava Ester. However you choose to offer it, all three of us appreciate whatever Light, Love, and Song you can direct Menolly's way.

Good luck Menolly.

Yeah, I'm soon to have my thyroid removed as it might be cancerous. But they say it is treatable if it is, so just another damn daily pill. Nothing as scary as all that.

Hope that goes well, Cag. Both Dam-sel and Menolly lost their thyroid to cancer, Dam-sel in 1980 and Menolly in 2011. I was amazed at how much simpler the surgery was the second time.

Some more poop hit the fan since I last logged in. Stag of the dawn spent a week in a Nigerian hospital where they diagnosed pneumonia. I kept thinking he had meningitis, but neither of us were stoked about a spinal tap in Nigeria... he got bad enough that our mission board told us to come to the US. There was about 18 hours when I was ready to call medevac, but we didn't have to go that far.

So we are in central NY where, as usual, it is cold and rainy. :D Stag had lots o' tests and we await results, but the doctor agreed that he likely had viral meningitis; and yes, there were repeated bouts of malaria and yes, it can recur but you can also pick up fresh parasites from new mosquito bites, and new strains mutate that can be drug resistant, to add to the awesomeness.

Because I am not 100% recovered AND have a summer cold, I still feel generally like I was drug through a keyhole backwards. The old phrase "all washed up" occurred to me as accurate.

But, I know there is such a thing as getting better and feeling better, even if I can't feel it right now.

On the upside, I have gotten to see my sister and Fawn of the dawn (my daughter). We are staying in our church's mission house, which is free except for utilities, and some friends loaned us a Chevy Suburban they aren't using and is the hugest thing I have ever driven. I have lots of time to read and re-watch my Doctor Who downloads. Zero motivation.

Well, bless you if you read this far. Life is good, this is a difficult passage but I know this too shall pass.

Soo lovely that youve got somewhere to hang your hat .. and yes a Chevy Sub is a huge fucking vehicle lol 😂 but nice 👍 and power steering should make it smooth ride.
