Submitted my tax return online 3 days ago. Just got my assessment back. It was a draw...I don't owe them, and they don't owe me. 3 days from submission to assessment is pretty damn good methinks.

Not bad for a Friday, Seareach! I only had to go into work for an hour and a half today so it ended up feeling a lot like a Saturday. So the rest of the weekend should be sweet!

This morning I am 'making a stand' re: work. Feels good, but I'm all sort of nervous and twitchy at the same time, because other people will be inconvenienced that don't deserve to be.

I figured out this morning how to get my old tunes from my ipod over to the new computer... that only took a year.

Been hanging out with my Mum, Stepdad, Sister, Brother in Law and two neices since yesterday. It's been fun, frustrating and tongue binding and liberating and nostalgic and magical and horrific and beautific and so many other things all wrapped up into one. I bonded again with my neice Grace. We were at this barbecue and Lily my older neice was tormenting this dog so I told her to stop and let the dog be and Grace was worried about the dog so once Lily had lost interest we looked for him and found him hiding in the verge by the back patio and so I told and showed Grace some secrets of dog whispering and the old man (Frisky the Dog) was asleep with his head in my lap within two minutes. It was so cute and then later when we got home, Grace did not want to be parted from me so she fell asleep on me on the couch. I looked down at her and realized that I can't love anyone more than I love those kids. I felt the love so strong that tears leaked out of my eyes. So beautiful and so wonderful.

I've only ever read anything in this thread maybe a half-dozen times. I picked a good moment to do it again. Great post, Jenn!!!! :D

ok will someone tell me if I'm crazy or not (now at least wait till I explain before you agree I'm nuts)

So I went to Barnes and Noble on Friday. I go there a lot to do my writing. So I sit down and this guy starts talking to me. OMG we had so much in common. Anyway, we end up talking for 6, yes I said 6 hours. We talked about everything from match.com to eastern religions to SRD to role playing games to my mortgage to my writing. 6 hours! and we werent even sitting at the same table. So B&N is closing. I am sure we have a connection. we are packing up and we start walking toward the exit. I say something like "are you leaving?" implying lets walk out together.

He says No, he has some shopping to do. Says bye and walks away. Ok so what happened? Maybe it's wrong of me to assume that just because a single guy talks to me for 6 hours that he might be attracted. Am I off base?

No, I don't think you're nuts lorin...that sounded like 'connecting' to me! Who knows with blokes tho? I've never understood it. But don't discount it either...if you go to B&N regularly, you might see him again...just play it casual. If he's interested, let him come to you & re-engage. If not, then don't worry about it! Just chalk it up to a 'nice but random encounter' - hell, WRITE about it! That's good fodder for the beginnings of a novel!

And I'm with you Jenn about my nephew & niece as well...I'm not a 'child person' - in fact I find most kids annoying! With the exception of my bubs, whom I absolutely adore, even when they chuck a tantie! It's when they run at you with big grins on their faces to hug the crap outa your legs, it turns ya into a big blob of jelly! & you forgive anything else!!!

Jenn: |G Glad you're having a great time.

Lorin: I predict you'll run into this guy again. ;)

As for me: Magickmaker is safely back at school, Batty is on her way back to Roanoke to finish packing up in order to head off to grad school, and I'm back at work after a week off. So far I haven't felt the need to throttle anybody -- but hey, it's just now lunchtime, so the day is still young...

He probably walked away thinking "Ah crap, I made a real mess of that." Many of us don't really know what we're doing with women. I think talking to a stranger for six hours definitely implies a connection/attraction, but that doesn't necessarily mean he knows how to handle it.

Try wearing some different shoes for a minute:

He meets a woman at the book shop, they talk for six hours and seem to really hit it off. As they get up to leave, she seems to want to walk out together, but he has some shopping he really has to get done. He says so, she accepts it, he doesn't know what else to do so he walks away. He spends the rest of his time in the shop thinking "Damn it, should I have done something differently? I couldn't just ask her to tag along while I shop. I could have walked out with her but I need to buy this stuff. Damn damn damn."

At least, that's the way it looks to me. Well, either that or he's married.
