I liked Making Money.

I've just started Northern Lights, book 1 of "His Dark Materials."

I know / recall nothing about these...am I going to suffer? :D

Read it when it first came out, which was.... 1995. Yikes. That about counts as a past life. I don't remember it. Didn't hate it, but I also didn't read the sequels.

I am re-reading Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel trilogy (the first one) for the umpteenth time. Surprised I don't have these books memorized.

The Subtle Knife is the best of the trilogy. Golden Compass/Northern Lights was meh. The Amber Spyglass is a mess.

From Diaspora, by Greg Egan.
No wonder most fleshers had stampeded into the polises, once they had the chance: if disease and aging weren’t reason enough, there was gravity, friction, and inertia. The physical world was one vast, tangled obstacle course of pointless, arbitrary restrictions.
What a great line!

And disregards the rest

Finished The Amber Spyglass this weekend, and had to agree with Orlion...it was a bit of a mess...

Idling on Pratchett's The Last Hero while I figure what to read next.

Finished a reread of Greg Bear's Vitals. A bit too much headlong action for me. I definitely prefer other books of his like Darwin's Radio or Queen of Angels.

I haven't read much Greg Bear. Actually met him at my local bookstore a couple of months back. He read an excerpt from one of his newer books - don't even remember which one - part of a series that takes place on or around Mars. It sounded pretty interesting, though I imagine I would have enjoyed it more if I knew more about the series.

Weird...the GF is just reading his Songs of Earth and Power. :D

Waiting for her to finish, so started Gemmel's Shannow trilogy with Wolf in Shadow.

I'm up to Unseen Academicals in the Discworld audiobooks, and I also finally started reading another novel, Karen Memory by Elizabeth Bear.

Just finished rereading Jacqueline Carey's first Kushiel trilogy and trying to decide if I should reread the second (which is good, but not as good as the first), or if I want to read something new. I'm leaning towards something new, but I don't know what.

Decided to reread Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach Trilogy.

Realizing he reminds me a little of Margaret Atwood in terms of character introspection and worldview.

Songs of Earth and Power, by Greg Bear. It's 2 novels in one volume, The Infinity Concerto and Serpent Mage.
