They used to call unseasonable heat and humidity 'earthquake weather' - I've always dismissed it as an old wives' tale, but we did have a small earthquake last night. (4.1, noticeable, but barely worth mentioning, except that it messed up my commute as they had to inspect the train tracks for damage.) A July heatwave isn't exactly unseasonable, even here, but the humidity is unusual. I don't think tectonic plates care about the weather, but those stories have to start somewhere.
