I have decided I need to finish doing my tax for the last financial year (they are now *very* overdue...and if I don't get them done by June 30th I'll be in big trouble with the Family Assistance Office as well as probably the taxation department! Thank goodness for the tax office which kindly sent me a letter telling me I should get off my ass or else!).
Son of Seareach caught himself a flathead today (a keeper). We took the fish to "Rod Bendings" which is the local fishing accessories place and had his photo (with the fish) taken for their front window. I have just been scaling and gutting Mr Tiger Flathead (yep...I gut fish! I know: "what a gal!" ) and he is baking in the oven.
I feel good today even though it's Monday! About three months ago, my fishtank got an infection and it killed off all the fish except one. One tiny tetra in a 120 gallon monster. During the move I decided to get rid of the fishtank and I gave it away. Heatherly had said that her friend would take Final Fish and give him a home. Instead of keeping her promise she let Final Fish live in a mason jar for several days. I decided to keep him after all. I took him to Chris's place and got him a fishbowl and put some bamboo in it. The bamboo turned nasty and grossed up the water so yesterday I decided to get him a little tank. Chris and I went out and found this adorable 5 gallon setup and put him in it and got him some little friends. Chris was all amazed when I put the bag of new fish in to acclimate. Final Fish was already in the tank and when he saw the new fish he kept trying to get in the bag with them. He's so happy now. I feel so much better seeing him in a healthier environment. He's my little survivor. He's a "headlight/taillight" tetra and we got him some leopard danio friends and some orange bellied tetras and some wedge tetras and an african dwarf frog which we named Frenchy. We put a bunch of gorgeous live plants in the tank and a faux taj mahal. The two leopard danios are very pretty and one has a distinct yellow edging to his fins so we named the darker one Squiggy and the brighter one Lenny. The orange bellied tetras are very different in size so we named the smaller one Squirt and the larger one is Redfish. The wedge tetras are virtually indistinguishable so we just named them Gang of Four. Frenchy is so adorable, he likes to swim up to the top and gulp air and then float around all splay legged. I lurves my new fish and frog kids!
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Someone on the NaNoWriMo forum was looking to write a vampire/werewolf parody, and people were suggesting various stereotypes and staples that should be included. One person suggested also including detective novel stereotypes, and I made a short, off-the-cuff post along the lines of "What, like this?" followed by a few lines of vampire-werewolf-detective stuff...and suddenly, this evening, I felt compelled to actually write the whole damn thing. This may be the first short story I've ever actually finished, with a proper ending and everything. It's certainly the first whole short story I've written in one sitting (about four hours, and the story clocks in at just over 5500 words).
I reiterate: I feel...confused...and exhilerated.
Ok, now a writer acquaintance of mine (not professional - an amateur, like me) is trying to persuade me to attempt to get it published. So today I'm feeling...gratified.

More immediately I feel really sleepy (despite (or because of?) sleeping all day, heh) and dread for my finals that are quickly approaching.
Good to see you putting in an appearance, tootsie.

...hehehehe...you sure that the "warm" water from the boiler wasn't...BOILING!!!
I have guppies. They're cool. They procreate like rabbits, and are brilliant colours.
Me today. Blah! Tired; and I've got a busy day of entertaining SoS (playgroup this morning...friend's house this arvo... Better than having nothing to do I guess).
I'm feeling strange, yet also more myself than I have in a while. I'm currently going through a phase of being in what I think of as my 'vicious/combative' mood. I keep finding myself grinning; that grin I grin when I'm mentally challenging life to bring whatever it may because I can handle all of it. This mood scares me a little, but it's also good in that I tend to only be like this if I'm fairly happy.
Good score Jenn, put some pics of those bad boys up!
Today I feel a little annoyed. This place I applied at for a job keeps NOT responding to my emails, so I'm going into town today to talk face to face. Weak.
Other than that, I scored some computer manuals at the library for free, about 40.00 bucks a pop, and I REALLY hope that Lassleys'll take 'em because I would have almost 120.00 bucks worht of credit! WOO HOO!

That kind of behaviour from employers seems to be becoming increasingly common. "Weak" is certainly the right word.
( its a good thing i left myself logged in or you'd never get to hear my drunken rambling )
Tomorrow - after a sleep - should be good though.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Heh. Reminds me of our dear old Tommy Covenant.
Leper. Unclean. Outcast.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

Very true. But Balon - don't walk into town, ogle some teenage girls resentfully, then get hit by a car. Or if you really must, make sure you have a several deadly weapons made of white gold.
Never really thought before about how fortuitous it was that Covenant showed up in the Land in hiking boots.
Doing pretty well today. MagickMaker turned 18 yesterday, so it's official: I am legally responsible for nobody but myself. (That's legally responsible, mind you -- I'm well aware that I'm still plenty responsible for all other kid-related duties!) And she's picked a college -- she's going to go to the same school as her sister attends. Whoo hoo! I'll only have to rent *one* U-Haul and make *one* moving-in trip this fall!
