Just started Starless, by Jacqueline Carey. Don't know anything about it, but she's one of the authors where I will always buy their new book. Apparently she did an event at my local bookstore earlier in the week - got an autographed copy, but I'm sorry I missed the event. Guess I should pay more attention to their calendar.
Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing

Ahahaha .. good for you for sticking with it. If a book doesnt grab my attention .. Ill give it 6 maybe 7 chapters to turn it around ... then out.
I dont throw books away .. cos who knows I might be desperate and give it another shake
The one Ive been reading has fortunately also kicked into gear and am really enjoying it .. but still reading the same book Ive been reading all month
slow reader

I'm not usually one to read something that doesn't grab me fairly soon, either. But, although this was lacking in sci-fi coolness, it kept me going because it was giving insight into the Chinese Revolution, called the Cultural Revolution, which I've never heard anything about. So it was interesting enough in that way, until the sci-fi goodness kicked in.

Yeah, I just searched to see if anyone else had read it, and saw your post. Also ussusimiel's, who seemed to like it more than you did, though maybe not as much as I did. I'll probably get the second one now, and see how they attempt to counter what they're up against.
