Saw it yesterday. I thought the first half easily surpassed the sequel,

but after the part where the Joker captures Dent, the pace seemed to sag and grind on. The "climax" wasn't there, for me, and I thought the Joker would do something more imaginative than put bombs on two ferries...

That said, Ledger's performance stole the show, and at no point did his death make me think it was creepier. I only felt sad that he wouldn't be in future Batmans,

as the movie seemed to hint at the end.

Two-Face I had problems with, but only because his CGI looked fake to me. I'm not sure how realistic or shocking they were trying to make the burn damage, but something about it did not sit well.

Well, I saw Batman today. It's damn good, and very intense. You don't want to wait for the dvd release to see it, that's for sure. I agree with LF on Two-face, though; they could have made his face less damaged (like, say, it is in the comics) and been better off for it.

In our audience, people did just that. It was oddly heart-warming.

Re: the slipshod editing in parts. I noticed this too, but it always seemed to cut away right before something visually gruesome happened. So, I'm left wondering whether some of the more abrupt cuts might have been to preserve the movie's PG-13 rating?

I saw it last night. Very good, probably the best movie I've seen in a while.

I had watched Batman Begins the evening before since it had been a while since I'd seen it. I thought that the way this whole second movie is a growth directly out the conversation that Gordon and Batman have at the end of the first movie - the talk about "escalation" - was very nice.

Ledger did a great job, to be sure, but really, so did every one else. I thought the guys who played Dent and Gordon were very good, and I really liked Morgan Freeman's role. But the actor who impressed me the most was Christian Bale - the way he shifted from Batman, to normal Bruce Wayne, to "billionaire jerk" Bruce Wayne was very impressive - I got the impression that these were almost three different people.

I was totally floored when

Gordon "died".

I was not expecting that, and as such, it was completely believable to me. And again, surprised as hell when the truth was reveiled.

I liked the way all of our characters had a moral dilema that they had to solve - obviously Wayne, Dent, and Gordon - but even Alfred and Lucius had to make moral choices - really ones without "right" answers.

Viewing Fail. The cheap/quiet late night and morning screenings aren't being used for Dark Knight. Busy, expensive Prime Time only.

That means waiting a couple of weeks til the rush is over.

The theaters in Louisville actually have machines inside that are meant to redeem online tickets. Most people don't realize you can buy tickets in them too. (So Zero lines, even during primetime) And most tellers don't realize you can buy children's tickets in them.

The movie seemed to start out in the middle of a storyline and had no pre-credits; I was thinking that they put the wrong reel in at first. Yes, many parts of bad-editing; even in the beginning when Bruce is talking to Alfred: one shot he is looking at Alfred and next shot he is looking down; ie, bad continunity.

Yes, Ledger did a great job. They said the same when Nickolson did it; that is a great character for an actor to do, it seems.

Anyway, over long and over hyped. The direction of Burton's Batman I is still supreme in both the dark mood and camera angle shots.

Ledger never would have rated more than a 5 of 10 from me based on his entire body of work prior to this. He was utterly amazing as The Joker. The only performance I can compare it to was Val Kilmer in Tombstone. It was a career performance.

The movie was pretty good too.
