There's talk of one and Branagh was quoted as being delighted because even tho' he'd not heard anything directly it was a signal from, the studio of his success with the film.
I also saw some takes of Sif arriving on Earth as a fugitive and totally creaming a knife wielding would-be rapist.
Go see it Sarge, its worth the trip to get the big screen, big sound and awesome (but carefully played 3D).....

Yeah Balder is my favorite of the pantheon...disappointed he wasn't there. Loved Heimdahl, Portman OK, blah...could have found a little bit better actor for Thor, Loki rocked. Straight forward real good romp. Dam I wish we had seen it in 3D would have been excellent-I would have traded both Owls of Gahoole and Dawn Treader easily for Thor. Funny Lore and I couldn't remember the 5th Avenger until we remembered the sniper with the bow and arrow.
A reboot of Daredevil? Well it's, sorta, like Thor, hard to get the exact correct actor. Now if you cast a guy with red hair that's not Ben AFLAC and eliminate the love story...then you may have something.

Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Giant-Man, Wasp - the original Avengers.
then Captain America joins.
everyone but Cap quits.
he hires on Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Hawkeye. (the sniper/bowman you mentioned)
yes, i will admit it - i am a comic book geek.

Yeah, but I don't think they'll be Hollywood's original Avengers--haven't checked the Avengers site, but looks like Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Cap 'n Hawkeye, nuff said...

(oh and maybe Black Canary...that was Scartlet's role in IM2 right? [maybe no Hulk, supposed to be just 5 right?])

Yes, saw a promo drawing, Iron Man, Cap, Hulk, Thor, the Bowman, who I believe is Hawkeye, and a woman

Black Widow. and I do hope Scarlet returns for that.
they are drawing from the Ultimate universe of Marvel. excluding Giant-Man and the Wasp. this is why Nick Fury is black.

I spent a lot of time with Thor at Danlo's home. I totally see why they made a movie about him. He is an awesome dog!

Not bad, but a pretty forgettable movie. Maybe it was better in 3D, but Asgard's CGI looked cartoon-like. I don't mean they should've made it hyper-realistic, but that I've seen more impressive CGI in mid-shelf platform games. The first frost giant battle evoked none of the awe that the opening of Fellowship of the Ring did. The second was a little better, but outside of Thor being a bad-ass, the whole thing felt way too cartooney, even for a comic book movie. Reminded me of the Dungeons and Dragon movie, and that can never be good.
Character-wise, the leads were flat. Thor's transformation was pathetic (oh, look, I became a better person/god in 36 hours). Not that either actor did a bad job, just that they didn't seem to have much to work with. Thor's companions and the lab assistant seemed more interesting, though the plot didn't really throw them much either. The only real standout, in my opinion, was Idris Elba as Heimdall.
The Destroyer was also pretty underwhelming. It's big (ish. No Iron Giant), it shoots fire. It destroys a town that looks and feels like a Hollywood set. Big deal, considering Loki tells it to pretty much blow up the world. The only really interesting thing about it is the line, "Is this one of Stark's."
Overall, it's a decent way to waste an hour and a half, but little more than that.

I bought the Thor Blue Ray over the weekend and in one of the 'extras', was a discussion on Hawkeye and it appears the guy with the bow in the Thor movie up high when he's trying to break in to the polythene covered crater to get Mjolnir, is in fact Hawkeye played by Jeremy Renner of Hurt Locker fame.

Indeed. I think they called him Barton in the movie? Not to be too much a geek, but Clint Barton is Hawkeye's name.

Errr.... Tried to watch this out of general interest, but for the most part, found myself gazing at the screen with an awkward grimace and muttering under my breath something like this:
Ughh what are those plastic-looking thingamajigs they're wearing? Egads, everything is pronounced wrong; Þórr oughtn't have blonde hair, and neither should his hammer look like that.... Óðinn didn't lose his eye in a battle but traded it for a sip of Mímir's mead. What, Laufey's Loki's MOTHER, not a king!!! Besides, Loki's a Jötunn himself, why does he look like this scrawny, angsty emob0i.... Drrr the Jötnar aren't evil...why in perkeleen perkele does everyone portray the giants as something EVIL.... Errrr why does Þórr speak English when in first contact with the humans; wouldn't something like Swedish or even Icelandic have sounded more...accurate? So, are you telling Loki's like a midget Jötunn or something? Uhhh...what's this now? Eeh...
Some nice CGI here and there, but I must say that a Scandinavian, or anyone grown up reading the actual Norse mythology, cannot watch this with a straight face. I realize it's based on some American comic, but even so, thought they might have tried to insert a liiiitle bit more authenticity into it...

We understand your frustration; however, please remember that this movie is based solely from the Marvel comic book and not actual mythology, hence the...inaccuracies.
