add Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol. Grant notched up the weirdness, creating memorable characters. (Crazy Jane, Danny the Street, Flex Mentallo were but a few...) inventive bad guys, cosmic scales. great stuff.

Dave Lapham's Stray Bullets - simply always penetrating, entertaining, and at times powerful. I had been a big of Lapham since his Valiant and Defiant days.

Gotta be X-Men really, in terms of series. But the Sandman ones are fantastic as well. Prefer them as Graphic Novel compilations though.

Anybody remember that 3-part DC plotline where all the villains and heroes teamed up to fight invading aliens? Can't remember what it was called now, but it was great too.

I don't really have a favorite series overall, unless it was a short run like Alan Moore's Top Ten, or Ellis' Planetary. But, there have been several runs over the years that I liked.....

Conan 1-24
DD 158-181
Spiderman 39-123
Uncanny X-Men 108-143
Swamp Thing 1-10 (Wrightson/Wein)
Iron Man 114-133
Avengers 141-200 (minus a few stinkers)
FF 160-190

Marshal Law is right up there too.
I never missed an issue.
Outstanding stories and very entertaining for a comicbook fan.

Is that a glowing bat in his hands or is he just happy to be in a comic?

it is Excalibur disguised as a bat. great series, both the first and second. Wagner is fantastic.

John Ostrander's Suicide Squad from the 80's. i even had a letter printed in one issue. look under Task Force X here...

I loved the Squad. The premise of the series was a joke. But still, great stuff! Batman's appearances are standouts. "Shall I tell you how many sealed drums I've escaped, Ms. Waller?" Can you believe the guy who owns the comic store where I play Magic thinks it's a terrible series??? Outta his mind!

I had Ostrander's email address, though I didn't stumble on it until Heroes for Hire.

Devil by the Deed is among my top few comics of all. I can't even figure out how to describe it to those who haven't read it, much less those who don't read comics at all. But it seems so full of layers and levels of story-telling.

Luci: loved Mage. i liked some of the Grendel. need to find a tpb if it exists.

Fist: not sure how anyone could not like the Squad, the only series that you had to worry that a favorite may die at any time. the issue with Ricj Flagg's death was jaw-dropping.
