I've been reading up on visiting NYC with kids, and these seem to be the most "family friendly" places to visit for a variety of ages:
American Museum of Natural History
Bronx Zoo
Central Park Zoo
Metropolitan Museum of Art
Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island
Battery Park Esplanade
American Folk Art Museum
The Cloisters
Museum of Modern Art
South Street Seaport and the Seaport Museum
Times Square area
Staten Island Ferry
Pick out a couple of those (and a couple of them are even free!!!), throw in a Yankees game, and a good time should be had by all.

Can we confirm the weekend of August 6-7? I will be getting my airline ticket as soon as we confirm. I've been watching prices on expedia and they're not getting any cheaper, unfortunately.
Fist, I'm planning on flying in Friday Aug. 5th and flying back Monday Aug 8th. I think I will fly into Newburg, it's somewhat less expensive.

I've got Aug 1st thru the 20th clear--next question: where's the $?

Nice list duchy but you HAVE to go to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens--it's like being in the last quarter of Shadow of the Torturer-simply amazing!

Aug 6-7 is confirmed, as far as
I'm concerned. I think duchess too, but I'd better let her say it herself.

Yes, that is the weekend, barring any personal disasters.
dlb, given the way gas prices have been, I would be surprised if the ticket prices were to suddenly plunge. And did you mean Newark?

I will have my sons bring their poker stuff, and you guys can play for pennies.

And we can all bring our new Harry Potter books and have a great discussion about them, too.
danlo -- please find the money if possible. We would all love to see you and your darling wife, and the babies!!

And did you mean Newark?
No, I meant Newburg (or however it's spelled.) That's the local international airport that Fist told us about. It's a little bit closer than Newark.

Yeah, Stewart Airport in Newburgh is LOTS closer!

Just wanted to remind everyone that this is open to all Watch members and their families if applicable -- as long as you can tolerate being around a bunch of kids

, that the weekend in question is August 6 & 7, the place is Middletown, New York.
Fist and I both have the following week off and hope to do some fun things along with our families, and if anyone wants to join in, that would be OK, too.

I don't know if anyone other than Fist and his children are interested in going to see a Yankees game with me and my family, but I did look closely at the schedule. Most of the nights they will be playing against the White Sox will be give-away nights.

My children weren't too interested in "Free Luggage Tag" night, but I think they would get into the free baseball cap night.
Tickets to the bleachers are only $12.
So perhaps the cap give-away night might be a good one to think about?

I know
I'd be more interested in the cap!!

I'd like to see a Yankees game - I hate the Yankees, but I'd like to go to Yankee stadium.
