Yeah, the Scarrans were a bad idea, IMO.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Soar, of course.
Well, most of the really cool pictures from the Gap have been of Amnion ships. Check out the picture of Calm Horizons that Jay posted in the Gap forum awhile back - very cool and utterly alien.
Of more mainstream stuff, that's a hard choice. I'd probably go with Babylon 5 or Farscape. Some of the alien ships on B5 were just incredible.
That said, my first inclination was to choose Star Trek (Next Gen), mainly because it's what I grew up watching. Compared to the CGI ships in more recent shows they're nothing special, and as LM pointed out, the 'flat plane' travel was annoying (not to mention the sound effects).
And having said that, I'll admit that my Windows desktop background has almost consistently been the same Trek image for the last, uh, ten years or so.

But what a great picture...
As for the flat plane, it's an excellent point, and one I'd never thougt of before Lore pointed it out.
However, in the spirit of argumentativeness, is space, the plane of travel/combat/whatever must appear flat from some perspective.
(Although it's less believeable in combat than in travel.)

I really liked the Naboo ships from the latest Star Wars flicks.....and that's about all I really enjoyed.
