Vets are indeed expensive. Glad the kitty's okay, though.
I keep saying I'm done with having pets after the current two leave (either with the kids to a new home, or...).

Feeling good, especially good today. Yay! I did see a doctor (I know of one American doc here and although he's an ob/gyn he will always see me) (and actually he's my hero, he does VVF repair and saw me in the morning before going in to do that all day) and the upshot is: Excedrin, or the one you make by taking an aspirin, a paracetamol, and some caffeine. It cost 10 cents for 30 aspirin. I won't consider taking the strong stuff for now, too scary. Anyway, I'm back among the living again.
Not sure if I mentioned the dove I "rescued" after it had been battered by a janitor trying to get it out of my classroom (had I been there, I would have told him to leave it alone and it would find it's way out!) and has yet to grow a tail back. It can't balance well without... but it started cooing once or twice a day, a couple of days ago. So it's not too unhappy.
Stag of the Dawn has more than once suggested I offer it to the cat. *rolls eyes*

I don't.Sorus wrote:That's scary - glad she's okay. Pretty unusual for female cats to get into bloody fights - that's usually tomcat territory. I'm glad mine don't go outside, I'd never stop worrying.

I said "no more cats" after the last one disappeared, but we came into possession of a 15 year old female who needed a home. I love her to pieces. She is an outdoor cat but street-savvy enough to keep herself out of trouble. And she seems to have cleared the rats out!!aliantha wrote:I keep saying I'm done with having pets after the current two leave (either with the kids to a new home, or...).

It's not worth coming home to a catless dwelling. I like to have 4, but I lost one earlier this year and I need to settle the drama between Min and Kara before I throw more potential drama into the mix. It's been two years, and they still can't be left together if I'm not there. Not as bad as it used to be - they got into a couple of full-on brawls in the early days - screeching like they were murdering one another and fur flying, but they never drew blood.

Four???
Thanks but no. Two is my limit, and I've only exceeded it once, under extreme duress.
Had a lovely day with Loremaster yesterday. We got lunch and walked around Central Park.
And lorin's home from the hospital.
And I still have tomorrow off.

I don't think I have an actual max - well, it's probably just tied to how much kitty litter I'm willing to drag home, but I'm in a studio these days and four is about the max this place can accommodate. I had to build a gate for my 'bedroom' 'door' to keep Kara in solitary while I'm not home.
Good news about Lorin - hope she has a smooth recovery from whatever the universe threw at her.

That can take a while. Min had her tummy shaved during her health issues last year, and it took 4-5 months for her fur to grow back completely. Not only that, but it grew back a different color and texture.

Wow, that's long. When we shaved my short-hair late last year, I think it took about 6 weeks to grow back, maybe a little more. At least to the point where it wasn't obvious anyway.
This one has had her face shaved before, but I don't remember how long it took. Was long time ago.
Anyway...Tuesday...meh. Winter...meh. Work...meh.
Did I miss anything?

I'm feeling a bit lazy too. Don't know if anyone else has an end of financial year rush, but I'm well and truly in the midst of it (and therefore I'm here
).
Our little Jack Russell / Silky Terrier is going down hill fast unfortunately. He's still enjoying his food and can get around ok, but he's pretty much blind and deaf. Poor little fella - we got him as a puppy in 1999, so he's had a very good innings - 17 and a half and still kicking (well, maybe not "kicking" but staggering). What's that in human years? 120 or something!

I am gleeful because I finally started writing ..just little bits and scraps of stories again last night, but one was something I'd really wanted to...
(It's in the Hall.)
I have different things (mostly in the form of e-mail communications) I'm not wanting to deal with, so I'll going to bed later than I should.
Therefore, I'm writing how I feel *now* as opposed to tomorrow on the theory "get in while the getting's good." (?)
Glad to see you around, StevieG!
(Edit: moved parenthetical thingy. because.. grammar and structure)

"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

Ah, Stevie. We are in much the same position, although Sammy is only 13. He too seems to be deaf. I can actually wake him up in the morning when I go downstairs, he doesn't hear me come into the room. He had some teeth out last year and has arthritis, but that seems to be dormant at the moment. Otherwise he is fairly perky and still enjoys his daily walk. Good luck with your little chap. It's all part of having a pet. Sammy's our fourth dog, we got our first two months before I had my son, so that's 41 years ago. I don't think we shall have another now. When Sammy has gone we shall be more free to take a holiday now and then.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!
