Men generally don't get told to smile, which is part of what annoys me. It comes off as 'You exist to be decorative, and you could be doing a better job of it'. Which is probably unfair, but being told by a complete stranger to 'Smile! It can't be that bad!' - dude, you have no idea how bad it is or isn't, and it's none of your damn business anyway.
I think it's down to influence from the Russian part of my family - a belief that going around smiling for no reason makes you look like an idiot. Maybe I should move to Russia. No, that would not be a good idea.

Actually Sorus youre right. It isnt anyones damn business.
Smile if you want to ... and yeah painting a permanent smile isnt always a good thing lol
1. Peeps cant take you seriously.. constantly grinning
2. You can come across a moron .. always smiling at everything
3. Makes you look like youre enjoying a private joke .. possibly at their expense ... no I take it back .. THATS AWESOME

4. Can look creepy AF .. grinning all the time
5. Gives the impression you have a limited intellectual and EMOTIONAL range lol
6. A smile is not always the appropriate non verbal comms .. ie in my past line of work particularly but delivery notifications of a death.
But after saying all that ... lol .. I enjoy smiling .. especially if someone pisses me off .. let them imagine what Im thinking
But its utterly I appropriate for a boss to require you to smile .. are you a dental model

keep smiling

'Smoke me a kipper .. I'll be back for breakfast!'
