I'm having a rough couple of days.

On the plus side, I told my family Sorus' moths-at-the-camping-site story, so I wanted to check in about that.
Got a good chuckle from one person, (either for the "I knew this to be a lie," or for "quantity of moths") who said, "hmmm, let's see.. only light source for miles around..."

Oh, it can take even longer...much longer sometimes. :D
So that was a little awkward.

As for me, I feel like it's Monday. No doubt something calamitous is hanging over my head, but it hasn't landed yet so...so far so good?

Monday indeed. We're in the middle of an all day rain. Tropical Depression 6 is passing right over our heads. Seems appropriate.

Update: She's called Tropical Storm Emily now.

Clear skies in NY for a second day in a row!! Must be a record.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I went on vacation to Bar Harbor, ME, with my sister and it was great. (Stag of the dawn has been in Nigeria, I pick him up at JFK tomorrow.) Came back and heard that my old man was really sick, so I went down to see him. He's not in a good way.

I could get just enraged at my 2 sisters who live in the US because one never EVER goes to see him 2 1/2 hours away, while the other lives across the street and didn't realize that he was practically dying. Of course, he covers it up pretty well, but one look around his house and you know things aren't right. But, I can't indulge those sentiments right now because I really need their help and support getting him to a level of care that he needs.

Other than this situation, I have been having a fantastic summer. I've lost 20 lbs and feel really strong. I literally cannot remember the last time I was sick, even a cold. I think God knew that I needed all my strength to cope with Dad's situation.

I'm so sorry, Deer. I never know what to say in these situations. My mother is getting up there in years and had a recent health scare (that's not quite over), and that's the main source of my stress for the last couple of weeks. This whole sort of thing has been an elephant in the room for most of my life, but lately it feels like the room is either getting smaller or the elephant is getting bigger.

...I was trying to think of something upbeat to say, but so much for that. Stay strong.

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing

Thanks, Sorus. I am just glad I happen to be on sabbatical from teaching till the end of the year, and have the time to do something for him (weekends will be very busy but weekdays fairly flexible for the next few months).

I am just kind of perplexed at my sisters. They really should have gotten over the little hurts that happened decades ago. Dad wasn't perfect, but he tried his best and he was a great Dad in a lot of ways. Generous, kind, creative, intelligent, fun; an avid reader and music appreciator. I love the old guy and it's hard to see him failing mentally and physically. But that's life.

There are no easy answers, but you have to figure it out anyway.

I really can't complain, things are fairly good.

I hope everyone has a better Tuesday than their Monday, especially Deer.

Thursday now...not looking forward to two long client meetings scheduled for today.

Or anything else really.

On the plus side, (I guess) spring is near. :D

Sorry to hear work sucks, null. Having to spend 8 or 9 hours a day doing what someone else wants is difficult enough but when you dislike what you are doing on top of that it truly does suck.

Another Thursday has arrived. Let's all try to make the most of it. :-)

10 hour shifts. the problem in summer is no a/c, not ventilation.
they have promised to gut the kitchen - at some point.

I love being a supervisor. but inmates and coworkers suck.
I was born to tell others what to do. lol. and I love being rank.
