You're sayin' the unmotivation will be for real then?Ur Dead wrote:Wait till you reach my age before complaining....
How's the health stuff you talked about last?
murrin- hows the blog (good bad or indifferent?)
Today, my day, has had unexpected things coming up...
And some are good.
A family that we fell out of touch with called about the possibility of me tutoring their daughter - I like this idea!
on the minus side, I accidentally let out a neighbor's rabbit, and my attempts to catch it when it hid under their bed (the ideal burrow!) were not a shining moment.

They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."

Hello all, creeping in a little red-faced at having been away for so long. It's been a funny year, not felt like doing very much at all other than what I've had to do. Maybe been a bit depressed? Don't know, haven't encountered it before. Anyway, must pull myself together.
Healthwise mostly OK. Still problem with the right eye, balance still a little dodgy, weight still fairly stable, short term memory very bad. Turned 65 this year but still aiming for one more e-fest. Will bring hubby next time - he'll be 70 in March!!
Had to go to bank today and passed Waterstones. Suddenly thought about the new book so went in and bought it. Can't start reading it yet as I'm heavily into Malazan territory at the moment. My gas man finally convinced me I should read Erikson. Read all 10 Fallen books, didn't understand much, so read all the Esslemont books (another came out today) and the not Fallen Eriksons, now reading the 10 Fallen again and understand it so much better. However, too many names!!! Can't cope with another new Donaldson series yet.
So, I'll visit more often. I've really missed all my friends here.

I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Erikson is definitely better the second time through. So many "Aha!" moments. I was eyeing the new Esslemont when I picked up my copy of Seventh Decimate. He's good too, but the characters just don't seem to have as much depth as when Erikson is writing them.
I was wondering that myself. Only one way to find out.I'm Murrin wrote:3.0 has taken us almost 7 years. How long do you think 4.0 will last?

Rabbits can be very opinionated. And stubborn. I had one who hated having his claws trimmed. One time he saw me coming with the clippers, and he bit off one of his front claws, spit it at me, then pointedly turned his back.Linna Heartlistener wrote:

Also had one who would greet people the first time he met them by charging across the room and slamming into their ankles with all the force a 2lb rabbit could muster. I'd warn them in advance, and most importantly, warn them that they had to act frightened. If they jumped or screamed, they would instantly be his new best friend and he'd never do it again. If they failed to take him seriously, he would go to his private spot behind the door, where I'd put a plank of wood so he wouldn't tear up the carpet. The setup provided good acoustics for him to thump dramatically, so all you'd get for a couple of minutes would be:
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
THUMP. (Dramatic pause.)
After about the sixth time, he would peek out to make sure that he had your full attention. Then he would charge back out for round two, and I'd have to tell them to please just go "Eeek!" or he'd sulk the rest of the night.
Never figured out why he did that - I'm sure there was a story there, but he was a rescue bunny and I didn't know much about his history.

1:
That's hilarious.
2: IO! You should be shamefaced.
Here we are, struggling on without you.
3: The next Esselmont is out? (Deadhouse Landing?) Awesome. Enjoyed Dancers Lament.
4: The gas man convinced you? After us talking about it for all that time, it was the gas man who convinced you?
5: I tend to read them together, with the Esselmont ones fitting into the books of the Fallen.
6: Friday!

SD- Good one. Very successful at amusing my kids.
They are moderately well-versed in the lore of Elmer and the Wascally Wabbit.
Sorus-
That first rabbit... WOAH...
The second...
For this one, my husband -and- boys saw the story and were amused.
Okay, so by "they would instantly be his new best friend" part, does that mean the rabbit would hang out and let them pet him, or just not launch his attacks.
Oh, well, at least Io knows that just means "great ta see ya!"

Make that three. We had a brief Ali sighting, but she seems to have vanished again. Haven't seen Balon or Orlion too recently, and Av is probably offline for the weekend. I'm curious about what will happen. Hoping for a big hole in the space/time continuum. That's always fun.
Colds suck. Hope you feel better soon.
