METALLICA SONGS TURNED INTO LULLABIES
The song "Enter Sandman" will take on a whole new meaning on August 29th when Lullaby Renditions of Metallica hits the streets. The CD features "dreamy" renditions of Metallica staples such as "Battery" and "Master of Puppets," complete with glockenspiel, vibraphone, mellotron, harps, bells and more instruments you're not likely to hear on an actual Metallica album. A press release promised that "the music that set the standard for aggressive, concussion-inducing rock will soon be lulling infants to sleep," although some critics still argue that Metallica induced drowsiness in fans of all ages with 2003's St. Anger album.

The CD is one of the first three releases in the Rockabye Baby! series issued by Baby Rock Records, with Radiohead and Coldplay songs featured on the other two. Future installments will focus on the music of Tool, the Cure, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, the Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age and several others.

The complete track listing for Lullaby Renditions of Metallica is: "...And Justice For All," "Battery," "Enter Sandman," "Wherever I May Roam," "Nothing Else Matters," "The Unforgiven," "One," "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth," "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)," "Fade To Black" and "Master Of Puppets."

And Selloutica goes even further down the tubes. Cliff Burton must be spinning in his grave.

It's like James and the boys are in a "let's look ridiculous" contest with Ozzy.

I'm thinking Metallica isn't going to have much to do with this. Damned sure Tool isn't, much less Nirvana. Somebody's just paying the licensing fees, royalties, or whatever.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

You are aware that Selloutica has their own dolls, er...action figures, aren't you?

Oh, and you can get their songs on Napster now too.
