Was it destroyed? Did the forestal get all the trees to run into the mountains?
In TIW the forestal mentions that the RoD is not forgotten in the deep, but they seemed to have survived it pretty well.

Forestals have the power to protect their forests against outside influences like Lord Foul's winter, the Sunbane, and even the Ritual of Desecration. Though, I suppose the Sunbane might have been actually worse than the Ritual. That kind of thing takes power and effort though, and I'm sure Caerroil Wildwood wasn't happy in the slightest.

Hey, trees in the Land do not "run".
:-x

I always imagined that the trees were blasted pretty badly throughout the whole Deep.
Broken, many uprooted and most badly burned.
Just enough to really piss a Forestal off!
But for the most part the Deep was intact.

It's possible that GD may have been more extensive before the RoD, but we have no indication of that. I suspect that CW was able to protect the forest.

I see it almost the same way HLT does, except that I imagine serious damage only around the perimeter of the Deep, while the center is mostly untouched, where CW would (I assume) focus most of his strength.

Makes me wonder: Wildwood vs. Kevin -- who had a deeper grasp of the Earthpower? Maybe Kevin in absolute terms (if he had chosen to use the Power of Command). But in terms of wisdom about the use of power, perhaps Wildwood could have taught Kevin. (Could've, should've...didn't.) :P

Anyway, if the whole Deep had been destroyed during the RoD, I can't see Wildwood rebuilding the whole forest from scratch. But if he really did...then yeah, I can see him being in a thousand-year long annoyed state of mind.

Good question MM...Makes one realize that the Old Lords were not as powerfull as they though...probebly the same conclusion that Mhoram ended up with--instead of hunting for more powerfull Lore, he decide to look for more Fulfilling lore.

Of cuae though, wilwood would win. HTK might try to blast him with the SOL but wildwood would have just turned him into a tree.

If the forestals are an extension of the will of the Forest, then when the forest goes, the forestals go, no?

I assume that he protected the core of the forest, but it must have been reduced.

However, as far as the people returning to the Land are concerned, any surviving forests would be warded by the forestals, and those people would be denied access to them. So, from the point of view of the people of the Land rebuilding, the surviving forests would be of no benefit to them. It would be as if they did not even exist.

Darn good point, Wayfriend. I have to agree, forests must first exist before there can be Forestals, not the reverse.

The Ritual of Desecaration was more personally damaging...

Post by ScrapOSamadhi »

It has always appeared to me that the Ritual of Desecration is more specific to the works of the invoker. All the works of the Old Lords were thrown down.

Revelstone wasn't because it was crafted by Giants.

Trell's ritual affected stone.

I don't think the Lords did much IN the Forrests to be undone. In one quote to Morham Wildwood said something to the effect (paraphrasing) "The Ritual of Desecration is not forgotten in the deep.".
