Possible Police reunion?

Damn man, you beat me to it!
I doubt it'll happen, 'cause Sewart Copeland can't stand Sting. Still, it'd be nice.

Stewart has good cause to dislike Sting, though I do agree that Stewart did rush the songs live, writing "Slow The Fuck Down" on his drumheads with a permanent marker wasn't the proper way to address the issue.....Cail wrote: I doubt it'll happen, 'cause Sewart Copeland can't stand Sting.

I hope that if they do decide to reunite, they put out a studio album first. I loathe "greatest hits" tours, and let's face it, The Police's songs haven't aged well (with a few notable exceptions).
Sting and Stewart, from every indication, are both pricks. It'd be nice to see them give it another go, but I'm not holding my breath.

I think the Police's songs are ageless.
And people here should understand, I never got the chance to see the band live. It all may be old hat to you, but I've only ever attended one rock concert in my life (when Sting came to town), and based on that experience, rock concerts aren't my kinda thing anyway. But to have an opportunity to at last see the Police live would be cool beyond words.

I guess I'm just sick of the song structure....Just about every Police song ends the same way, with Sting repeating the chorus over and over again.

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- The Police will reunite to open the 49th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 11, The Recording Academy said on Tuesday, fueling speculation that the hit 1980s British band is planning a reunion tour.
The five-time Grammy-winning band, led by frontman Sting, with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, quietly split up within a couple of years of the 1983 "Synchronicity" album and was last seen playing together in 2003 to commemorate their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The band, known for such hits as "Roxanne," "Message in a Bottle" and "Every Breath You Take," has never performed at the annual telecast for the music industry's most prestigious awards that are given by The Recording Academy.
"The Police join a stellar list of past Grammy Awards opening acts, which includes reunions and once-in-a-lifetime performances," said a statement from the academy.
Members of The Police have so far refused to confirm rumors that the band is planning to reunite in 2007 for dates in Britain and the United States, with this year marking the 30th anniversary of the release of "Roxanne."
Last month the band's label A&M Records, which is owned by Universal Music, said in a statement that they would mark the year somehow.
"It is our intention to mark the anniversary by doing something special with the band's catalog of songs. Needless to say, everyone is hopeful the band will support our plans and while early discussions have taken place, nothing has been decided," said the statement.
Other presenters at the Grammy Awards include Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Christina Aguilera, Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Wonder.

Thanks, Cail. I just saw this, too.
But is this it? Is this the extent of their "reunion?" If so, it's beyond lame. The Grammies are a joke, IMO. I haven't watched that in years, but now I'll have to, if only to watch the Police sleepwalk through a song.
Even if a reunion tour may be beyond my means to attend, I hope the Police will still go on one. After all these years, I hope the band won't just dismiss its fans. Yes, I'm pointing my finger squarely at Sting. Yes, he's a cool dude for the most part, but over the years he's given the impression that he thinks a Police reunion is about as desirable as an ebola outbreak.

I thought their performance at the R&RHoF was weak. I imagine that this performance will be too, because (in part) they're gonna play "Every Breath" or something else as insipid.
Prove me wrong fellas....Play "Bed's Too Big", or "Secret Journey".

is that a threat?

But think about that. The curtain comes up, the crowd goes wild, anticipating the 'great' Police songs, like "Every Breath..." and then that opening dissodent bit starts up and Summers voice croaks, "The telephone is ringing! Is that my mother on the phone!..."
Ok, if that happens, I'll post myself dancing nude too!
and that is an ugly threat, letmetellyou....

~...with a floating smile and a light blue sponge...~
Never happen, unfortunately.
And that's what concerns me about them doing a reunion tour. They're going to have a setlist that exactly mimics what's still played on the radio. I'll be honest, I really don't want to see that.
5 years or so ago, I saw Def Leppard on their "X" tour, and they opened the show with the entire first side of "High & Dry". Absolutely blew me away, because it was so unexpected. I can't see the Police doing something like that.
