Most Kick *ss Metal Songs (No Posers!!!)

Post by jelerak »

Ahhh, the glory days of true metal music, the 80s.

What songs were there that just grabbed you by the balls when you first heard them?

You know, the ones that tended to want to bring out your most violent tendencies when you hear them...made you wanna bang your head on a wall?

For me, this is my short list :

Manowar : Wheels of Fire
MegaDeth : High Speed Dirt
Metallica : Ride the Lightning
Dokken : Tooth and Nail
Skid Row : Slave to the Grind
Motley Crue : Live Wire
Judas Priest : Freewheel Burnin'
Twisted Sister : Under the Blade
Armored Saint : Reign of Fire

Sabbath: The Wizard
Dio: Stand Up And Shout
Maiden: pick one, but 2 Minutes To Midnight, and Flight of Icarus really kick ass.
Priest: again, pick one...Electric Eye, The Sentinel.
Blue Oyster Cult: The Red and the Black, Lips In The Hills

2 Minutes to Midnight is a great track and most of metallica's early stuff is brilliant.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Full of the heavens and time.

I used to like me some King Diamond...can't recall specific tracks anymore though. Did he do a song called "Run For the Hills"?

That's a good song too. I was never much of a HM guy...more of a Springsteen/Petty guy.

Aaaah, I knew I'd forgotten someone.

Pantera - Hellbound

Yes, it's from the unpopular 'Reinventing The Steel' era, but I don't care. I like it.

Also:

Bumsnogger - Demonizer
Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod

Yeah it was, and Ministry aren't a metal band, sorry; they're Industrial.

Actually, that's probably closer to the truth. Good point.
