I fell upon this by accident last night.
At first I was like: this looks kinda dumb.
They I switched channels.
Then I went back and was like: hey that's cool.
Then the Roman guy started talking and I was thinking :that guy is awesome.
Then my wife came home, we started talking, she wanted to watch American Idol, I was too sleepy to argue and I missed the ending.
But the little that I saw was pretty good.
Anyone else check it out?

I saw part of it when it originally aired. I wasn't too impressed with it. I love the Riverworld books, probably in my top 3 sci-fi series, but I didn't think much of what I saw.

Yeah. Tried watching it, and after a few 'that's kind of cool' moments I quickly lost interest.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Same. The RR series is in my top 5; tv show rather stunk. Now, had I not read the series it might have been different. This show is always the example I point to and what I fear would happen to the TC series if it were made into a tv show/movie.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.
