Re-reading series in anticipation of Deathly Hallows
Anyone else out there who'll be re-reading the entire series in the early summer, in order to start Deathly Hallows with everything fresh in your mind?
Should we have a timetable or something so everyone is reading same books at more or less the same time?
Is that a little sad?

Altough I enjoyed the books very much, I don't have the same gumption to re-read the 6 books as I would (and did) for SRD. I did it for the GAP series too... re-read each preceding book before the next one came out (yah, I do like the first 2 a LOT!)

I've been periodically rereading them for the last couple of years. I'll probably read 5 & 6 in anticipation.

I had never read any of the books a second time until recently. It made the films more fun, because I didn't remember all that much of what went on when I saw the movie. And some things got muddled. That's all part of a forgetful mind.
But now that I'm reading through them again, I'll be picky about the newest movie. But I'll be completely ready for the last book.
I have been reading on and off for a while, but now I'm committed to finishing them all, so I need to hurry. I just started HPOOTP (which spelled out sounds like a bad BM), and after careful calculation means that I must read about 33 pages a day to get the job done before July 21st. I bumped it up to 35 pages, made a calendar with what page I should be on, and that means I will finish book 6 the 19th. Then take a day off before going to the midnight selling and staying up all night reading. Or something.
Obsessive? Me?
Nah....

I kinda skimmed through, it's mostly explained in the first few pages of that thread but we revisit it several times, mostly in argumentative form between me and the Gunserman.....

Don, we're talking about the theory Guns proposes here and which is debated at great length throughout that thread.

Guns has this CRAZY theory that Snape was in love with Lily Potter and that he sold out the Potters to Voldemort so that James and Harry would be killed leaving Lily as a free agent. He also thinks that Lily's death is what turned Snape against Voldemort, the fact that Voldy betrayed Snape by killing Lily after all. He thinks this because of the following reasons:
1) JK Rowling said in an interview that Snape has loved and known love in return.
2) Snape's hatred of Harry is because he looks like James with Lily's eyes and that's painful to him.
3) Snape had to have a serious reason to trade sides.
My argument is that Snape was purely hateful to Lily during the only exchange we ever get to see, the one when Harry steps into Snape's memories in the pensieve. Also, I can't see Lily cheating on James with Snape and JKR said that Snape has loved and known love in return, that would mean Lily and he had an affair. Finally, according to Dumbledore, Snape switched sides BEFORE Lily and James were killed.
