Here's something from Robert Anton Wilson (which I see several around here have read) called "Religion For the Hell of It" which is about jokey religions of the time. Wilson was a key creator of Discordianism. He died this year, and was probably my favorite author (sorry SRD). Personally, I've always liked the javacrucians even though I don't drink coffee.

My favorite is the WGLF.
Ok, they're mostly a dabait team as I understand it. But they rock, and they remind me of the Book of Discordia some of the time (actually, I knew about WGLF before discordia, but whatever). Supposedly they've won high school or college dabaits or something by talking about the imp/explosion of the sun or something. Even if it isn't true, the balls it takes to make a claim like that make them worthy of regard.

Just be careful with Discordianism. It's Suprise Zen, in the manner of that SNL Skit about Suprise Sex.
