Gary Hoey supposedly has been doing some surf music.
It's a faster harder version than the old stuff.
I heard him on a local radio station recently but have yet to look for it online.
Sounded awesome.

Gary Hoey is one of the best, imo, electric guitar players out there.
The stuff I have heard from him is all music, no one sings.
He's more heavy metal themed I think.
I don't know too much more about him than that though.

Calexico started out as part surf, part mariachi. Wouldn't say there's much surf on their last album, though.

Fatso Jetson have a pretty good surf vibe to them, though they're a prototypical stonerrock band. If you can get your hands on "Mountains of Debt" or especially "Ton of Love" you'll know what I mean.

(and thanks, Sarge. I never thought to look on youtube for these guys. rock!)
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
