Wembley to host Dolphins & Giants
news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/american_football/6248825.stm
The Miami Dolphins are to play the New York Giants in London on 28 October.
Me knowing nothing about American Football, are these two teams good?
The report says this is the first time a game has been played outside of North America during a NFL season.
The Super Bowl is also set be in Wembley.

I think the Giants are a decent team for the NFC anyway, if they keep playing this well they have a chance at a wild card or, who knows, maybe even the division. I'm not sold on the Cowboys yet.
The Dolphins are currently competing with the Rams for the title of worst team in the league. Neither have won a game.

Part of the problem I see with the Giants is that they start games slow. Sometimes very slow. Sometimes after a couple of Manning interceptions but little by little the defense begins to tighten and the offense begins to become effective. If they want to have any chance of doing anything in the playoffs (beyond just getting lucky with the wildcard) they will have to find a way to get off to faster starts.sgt.null wrote:Giants will only go as far as Eli Manning takes them. and I am not sold that he is an NFL starting qb yet. but you are right that he is in the NFC and has a chance.
The Dolphins are just bad. Even their much admired defense just coughed up 41 points. That aint good.

*sigh*
From a DolFan since before the "perfect season" of '72...
Miami has the Dolphins
The Greatest Football Team
They take the ball from goal to goal
Like no one's ever seen.
They're in the air
They're on the ground
They're always in control
and when you say "Miami"
You're talking Super Bowl.
Cause we're the
Miami Dolphins...
*heavy sigh mixed with extreme emotion*

Quee, to put it in terms of English Football:
Miami are the only team to ever go undefeated (in the very early '70s) through a whole season. Their history is one of expansive, exciting play. They have had unprecedented success. Although you can only see it if you look very far back in the history books...
ie Miami = Tottenham
The NY Giants are a team that has a more ruthless edge. Their conquests have been based on consistency and having a great defense. And they haven't really done anything since the '80s and early '90s.
ie NY Giants = Everton
Hope that helps.

I think the title of this needs a change
Once again the NFL is in London again, this time its
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS vs SAN DIEGO CHARGERS
Like usually I have no idea about teams or players... so have someone fill me in about which team is good/bad n players to watch.
I want to go to a match but this is too short notice, if the NFL are planning on making this a regular event then I will go next year.
