Some Opinions on FR
Hello,,a few olde timers may remember me with an awareness keen and and yet respectful of distance. To all those I am unfamiliar with , I look foward to what you can educate me on.
I have read Fatal Revenant. Or ,,I have Felt Fatal Revenant. The experience of readin the TCoTC is so very tactile , inner nerves are awoken and rousted as the nerves on ones finger tips.
SO far, Fatal Revenant is imho,,one of Donaldson best efforts. As easily noted by others by now , the authors use of Olde English and as well, making some New words as demonstrated in Fatal Revenant , exhibits Donaldson's skill in a mature and grand form.
The structure of the novel is classic Donaldson with subtle hints along the way of things to be thinking of,, clues to start gathering, and a frame of mind, a perspective if you will, a ,,knowing,,of what he is saying or getting at by his arcane use of words.,,Am I the only one who smelled a wif of Lawyers in the Insequent?
As I stated when Runes came out,, this is not the same author who wrote Lord Fouls Bane. This is the person who has lived and learned, experienced and grew and for better and for worst, his accumulated wisdom , compassion, and humor he lays out for us to behold and do with what we will.As dark and troubled as Donaldson gets ,,and takes us into, for us to feel alive,,there it is , i've said it,,his work remains so very much life affirming. Real Knowledge is earned, thru Living Life.

If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.

F&F and Creator..it is indeed good to be back at KW first for the obvious occassion of FR which brings me to this FANtastic concentration of all things Donaldson.. I remain totally bowled over by Fatal Revenant...I begin to wonder,,just who is the Fatal Revenant,,,The first and easiest answer being Thomas Convenant is perhaps too easy,,in either case. It is Linden Avery who is the Fatal Revenant seems to me.

A revenant is a spirit, I think, and TC's shows up in the last paragraph of the last page. So this book is entirely about Linden's trip from Revelstone to Andelain. And we see the title character just in time to experience the infamous SRD cliffhanger. A three-year cliffhanger. Fortunately for me, this book didn't leave me with a desire to find out where SRD lives and rummage through his garbage for the tiniest hints about what's to come. I can live for three years not knowing what comes next after reading this one. Runes made me insane for time to fly by. I was thinking, oh boy, now a REAL character is here! Not so. Drat. As far as language, SRD is a master of the English language, new and Olde, as well as other languages. I have added more words to my vocabulary in the last 30 years from reading the TC books than I did in college. Yea, truly. I love it. It stimulates my mind while annoying my nerves. He's truly a genius and we are so blessed to have him in our generation. I guess you can't tell I'm a fan.............

Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?
