Anyone watch the miniseries Tin Man? I'd love to discuss it if you did.

I watched. I found the re-imagining of the characters entertaining, enough to see it all, but the plot was well-worn, maybe even worn out.

The land of O.Z. was inconsistent, with it's mix of high and low tech. Maybe that was the point. I might have liked it better if the plot hadn't fallen short.

I actually made a topic on this last night but deleted it as it show came to an end--have to agree with ItisWritten. Probably my fault for tuning in 20 minutes after this installment started and not watching the 1st one. DG's escape from the tomb was a little too simple and the prefect boobs on the old baldheaded guy were too weird. In the SciFi.com discussion forum a lot of folks were joking about the flying monkeys popping out of the Sorceress' cleavage.

I thought Raw, Cain and Glitz were cool and would have liked to see Dreyfuss as the Miracle Man. I didn't understand the black guy at all but that's my fault for not watching the beginning.

Yeah. . . I thought the first episode was kinda rough, but the story improved. I actually liked the characters, and almot wished the story was tighter. I personally disliked the original, though--thought it was creepy as hell in fact! Anyhow, I found the show to be enjoyable--even if not a classic.

I saw it. Overall, I enjoyed it, though I saw where the story suffered, because
a) they obviously time-compressed a lot to make three 2-hr episodes (which were really three 1:15 episodes, once you zipped past all the ad blocks - thank you, TiVo! Though, I was left with the strange impression that not a lot was left on the cutting room floor - too lazy to research, but I wonder if the screenwriters are TV pros?
b) several scenes seem to have been written specifically to make the camera in- or out- shots work, making efficient use of their CGI budget.

Yeah, there was much formulaic story development, but I didn't mind - I was so entertained by picking out the many little references made to existing Oz lore, that I ended up a very sympathetic audience.

In short, there is quite a bit that could be picked apart - for example, when DG and crew were chased by the Pap-Ay (sp?) I snarked "Oh no RUN! it's CGI!", but I enjoyed it enough that offering up too many negatives would make me feel like a hypocrite, since I watched the whole thing. :)

Three eps, wow I thought it was just 2. Maybe I'll have to watch again before jumping the gun (only saw about 40 mins). I, actually, dug the adding machine/comp it kinda reminded me of the classic The Difference Engine by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling...

Haha, I read the title of this thread as "Tim Man" and was really confused for a second. I was like "What the fk is a thread about Tim Man doing on KW?"

I'd like to maybe get the dvd of it. Dorothy's played by Zooey Deschanel, the actress from Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and I liked her in that, so I figure Tin Man would be worth watching since she's in it.

She does a lot of the "wide-eyed-I'm-in-my-twenties-but-could-pass-for-jail-bait looks" Not into the jail-bait thing, but still very, um, endearing.

Heh. . . my friend and I thought she ran in a funny way. But I have to admit that she's very striking with the blue eyes and the dark hair. :)

Well, striking is in the family. Her sister, Emily, is on Bones.
