WGA Strike and the Talk Shows

Post by DukkhaWaynhim »

Didn't see this anywhere else in this forum. Letterman & Ferguson were back on last night with their writers, while the other shows (Leno, e.g.) tried to do without. I hardly ever watch these shows, so I didn't happen to watch or TiVo any of them. How did they fare?

What do you all think about the WGA strike? Are their demands fair? Should the AMPTP give a little?

Letterman was apparently able to get his writers back because he produces the shows through his company, Worldwide Pants, and struck a separate deal with WGA that essentially provides his shows' writers the very same digital compensation rights they sought from the corporate networks who walked out on negotiations several weeks back. Was he right to do this?

letterman made the deal because he could afford to make the deal. which leads me to believe the networks could afford the deal. they are standing firm because they want the cash cow.

The networks are wrong in this, and they need to pony up.
