Poem 'Why?'

Post by Gil galad »

I wrote this a year ago, like to know what people think.
Why
A Poem by Aaron Cossey

You sit opposite me
The one who cared for me
The one who swam with me
The one who sat with me when I was sick
who encouraged me to succeed
The one who wiped away my tears
and held my had at a funeral

You sit opposite me
Why am I not standing up
Why am I not sitting down
next to you
Why is your head not on my shoulder
and mine on yours
Why are we both not crying
tears mixing
Why am I not stroking your hair
Why an I not saying I missed you
not saying I love you but thinking
I loved you
Why can't I breath and why
wont this room stop spinning
Why can't I stop shaking
my face is tingling and there are spots
in my eyes floating
Why do you have to look at me like that
I see the pity in your eyes
Why?

Because
It's Over

One thing I love about poetry is its healing capacity--both for the writer, and for the audience. Keep writing, Gil. :D
