I was deeply disappointed by all the romance-novel type sex, which is just not My Thing at all (I'd much rather be doing it than read about other people, yuck).
really? hmm. yes of COURSE we'd all rather be doing it but...
i really really loved Gabaldon's sex scenes!! i thought they were
really well written. maybe its an age thing. how old are you?
And I found there was a kind maturity and compassion in their relationship that I admired. It's easy enough to skip over the parts that start with a reference to a 'member' or a 'nipple' and get on with it. (Gabaldon joked that one of her proofreaders notes was "nipple AGAIN??".
)
obviously you haven't read any of the dreck out there that passes for
love scenes, else you would probably appreciate this aspect of Gabaldon more maybe.
boddice rippers are capital B O R I N G to me. diana gabaldon's writing
is NOT emphatically NOT boring, with or without sex.
Since then I also came across Dragonfly in Amber and uh... the third in the series. They move along so fast.
that would be
Voyager. and yes, yes they do move along fast.
we're up to the American Revolution at this point with
A Breath of Snow and Ashes.
Is it worth going on? Sometimes long series deteriorate and it's better to drop it after 3 or 4 books. Anyone?
are you bored with the story? if so, don't read anymore. if not, read on.
i find in absolutely mind-boggling that a reader could get through book three and not HAVE to get book four IMMEDIATELY!!!
yes, its well worth it.
