First HULK Teaser Trailer on line now

Just watched the new HULK trailer. This film is going to be very different than Ang Lee's version. The last scene in the trailer shows how the new approach is shooting for much more traditional comic book action.

I better win an Oscar this time, or there'll be hell to pay.
When the man with a 45 meets the man with a rifle, you said the man with a pistol is a dead man. Let's see if it's true.

I don't think Norton is right to play Banner (even though I'm a fan.) The teaser looks really blah.

I think it makes Eric Bana's Hulk look exciting.

Gives me a "meh" feel. I think I'll put my bets on Iron Man and Robert Downey, Jr.

It was at about this point with the last film that I began to question whether it was even possible to film the HULK at all. The previews were fine as long as they didn't include anything which actually showed the HULK himself. I guessed with the new film that surely they'd create somewhat of an improved HULK. More lifelike, realistic. I'm fine with the actors that have been chosen for the redo. I'm fine with what the plot appears to be. What I'm not fine with is the CGI. It looks as if it's still not there. :-(
HOWEVER...as HUGE an Iron man fan as I am it wasn't until the last trailer that I really thought I was going to be treated to something remarkable. Who knows? This is the first go at a trailer. What they put together in the next couple of months might change my mind. I wanna like this movie. I wanted to like the last one. I don't know what exactly the HULK requires in order to be properly realized on the big screen.

How about an actual, physical actor, like Lou Ferrigno, only better? Or an actor behind the CGI, like Gollum in LOTR? Paging Andy Serkis?

Or is the problem translating the drawn Hulk digitally? Should Hollywood stick with updating Jekyll and Hyde?

I think the problem is the Hulk is only exciting in conjunction with other heroes. I don't really care to see him transform or smash through walls; I'd rather watch him break Peter Parker's back across his knee. Or chew Tony Stark's face off.

I'd like them to do something like The Ultimates, where he's on the fringe. That way, his CGI wouldn't be so prevalent. I mean, it's about impossible to make bright-green, giant muscles of CGI look convincing. You could hide that, though, by making the Hulk move extremely fast, or just distracting the audience with flying tanks, debris, etc. Linger too long on him, though, and people will start scrutinizing.

The scene in the trailer where Ed Norton throws himself from the plane to land into the danger zone reminds me of a scene in the Ultimates where Fury dropped a tied-up Banner into a Chitaur danger zone so that he'd turn into the Hulk and kill them all...

If they truly want to go for an Avengers movie with the various actors of the solo franchises, they'll likely include the Hulk as well - and that would be similar to what you're thinking of, LF, right?

Heh. It's just as well. I don't really need to see yet another totally fake-looking, blubbery CG Hulk. :P

You can find the trailer on YouTube--they don't actually show the CG Hulk until near the end.
Can't say I saw anything particularly impressive in it, whereas I though Iron Man looked interesting right from the first teaser.

That's all right. Seeing that message come up on the MTV site is funnier anyway. ;)

He's only the second CG hulk, so you're wrong about the "yet" part. :P

First full trailer for HULK. It's beginning to grow on me though HULK not look real. Hulk is strongest one there is, Hulk kind of look dumb in some shots. Hulk confused. Head hurts.

I think its that they have a problem doing living things. Even in LOTR, who gets it mostly right, CGI Legolas still looks a bit odd. Gollum is the closest to perfection we have, but you can occasionally metaphorically "see the strings." But what has made these comic book movies work so far is that these folk are masked, typically. The Hulk is pretty naked and already looks a little cartoony.

That aside, he looks more like Hulk the male model than Hulk the big green monster.

Ok, I think this Hulk is gonig to be fairly tolerable. And I do get a better impression form that trailer than I did from the teaser.
The main issue I would have is with the CGI Hulk's face: there is no life whatsoever in those eyes.

Are you mocking me, jughead? I wouldn't do that if I were you.

Hey, if you've got it, flaunt it.
