Hurricane Isabelle
Well, Hellfire, the young'n, and I have to head out tomorrow to get away from the storm. There's no telling how long it will take to get power lines and all back up, so it might be a while before we're back regularly. I'll check in as soon as I can. Don't worry about us, though; we'll be out of the storm, and we have renter's insurance.
Take care.

Hang in there!
I'm in the path too. We're far enough inland that we'll just get alot of rain and some flooding. Good thing I live on a hill.
Maybe she'll turn back out to sea at the last minute; you know how fickle women are

Be careful! I remember when what little was left of hurricane Opel wrecked havoc through northwest Georgia in 95. I was in 5th grade then, and I was scared as heck. I'll never forget those clouds the day before it came. Good thing I slept through the worst of it! 70-mph winds just suck!
I guess the only other storm northwest Georgia has experienced of that magnitude was the blizzard of 93. Oh dear god, to see those rednecks walking around with the "I survived the blizzard of 93" T-shirts!

See you soon, Syl.
Hey Foul,
My wife and I were planning on moving to NC years ago, as soon as she graduated from college, so we went to check it out during her spring break. We left in the evening, and stopped in Winchester, VA for the night.
And that night was the night of the Blizzard of '93.
2 or 3 days later, just as the roads were getting cleared and we were looking forward to leaving that Days Inn, I began vomiting for 2 days.
I'm not sure there are words to express our joy at leaving that motel when we were finally able to.

You were in Winchester, Fist? I live about 6 miles from there. Apparently the 'cane is going to track right up my frontyard (west of Hagerstown). Local weather people expect 3 to 6 inches of rain. For all you metric systems users thats alot.

Good luck Syl. I'm in Jersey and a few days ago they were calling for Isabelle to slam us too. At this point though it looks like we're just going to get alot of rain and some wind. Of course that means we'll probably get hammered!

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. kin,
We stayed at the Days Inn, the one with the Denny's attacked, right off of 81 every time we travelled between NY and NC. At least every time we started out in the evening and didn't drive straight through.
Like we should have done in '93.

Thank you all for your concern. As promised, I'm here checking in. The Syl clan is fine. We're in GA visiting some of Hellfire's relatives. Having a good time. Looks like the beach got hit hard, but I think my place should be ok. Won't know until tomorrow night when I get back. If you don't hear from me before Monday, it probably doesn't bode well for the homestead... unless the power's still out or something.
