Whatever happened to the Forestals???

Post by Seeker of Truth »

This has probably already been discussed (most subjects have!!) but it could do with a re-visit......

in my humble opinion, there were forestals in Morinmoss, Giants Woods, Grimmerdhore, Andelain as well as Garroting Deep. Most of these forestals probably perished (sacrificed themselves?) to protect against the ravages of the Ritual of Desecration ..... Garroting Deep probably retained its forestal due to either distance from Mt Thunder or that Caerroil Wildwood was very potent indeed!

also may explain why Caerroil Wildwood did not tolerate Lords or people very much!

Good topic Seeker. I've also wondered if the Forestals had any advance warning of the Ritual. If not, they did a great job of scrambling to save Garroting Deep, Morinmoss, etc.

I wish I knew what book and chapter this came from, but I do remember a passage that says that after the RoD, there was peace for a very long time, and most of the Forestals believed they were no longer needed and passed out of existence, sort of retired, I guess you could say, or just died out. Does that ring a bell to anyone? Darn it, I just re-read the entire series. Maybe it was a story from Findail, but I'm not sure. But I am certain I saw it. Does anyone have a memory better than mine? Yea, everyone meets that criteria. :P
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Gee, this is turning into Chronicles Trivia.

I think that was in TWL, during the Sooth-tell.

Right, and it was referring to Caerroil Wildwood specifically. He was the only Forestal alive at the beginning of First Chronicles.

There is alot of background info on the Forestals in FR.

I'm pretty sure this is an FR spoiler.
Spoiler
The Forestal's consciousness, or power, waned as the Forests themselves waned. It also seems they got a lot of their energy from the Colossus of the Fall, which also waned over time. By the time we meet Caerroil Wildwood he's probably the only one left, although he might not even know; the Forests are separated and do not seem to know each other anymore. By FR, 3500 years later, the Old Forests are totally destroyed by the Sunbane. I am hoping that they make some un-looked-for reappearance, the way the Giants, Demondim, and Viles do!!
