Frets On Fire (PC)

Post by jelerak »

fretsonfire.sourceforge.net/

I came across this little gem over the weekend.

It is a free download from the above link. It is basically Guitar Hero on the PC...except that you pick up your keyboard (inverted) and use it as the guitar. The F1 thru F5 keys are your frets, and the enter key is your pick. So when you hold the keyboard up, you are simulating holding the guitar.

Now I know this may sound strange...but the effect works pretty good. Like I said, it is a free download. It has 3 songs that come with it, and all pretty good content IMO.

I also found and downloaded GH3 song packs that work on this program, as well.

If any of ya'll are interested, check it out and let me know what ya'll think.

I have a friend who really likes it and has encouraged me to give it a try. But since I use a laptop I haven't done so...yet.

Wow. Even a version for Linux. I guess I have to give it a try. :-)

I tried it a few months ago. It plays, and performs, even worse on the PC than the actual port of GH3 (which was pretty da**ed awful).

In fact, I picked up GH3 for the XBox just so I wouldn't be bothered by poor job they did on the Windows version.

I always find it hard to complain about anything that is absolutely free.

It's easy when you've paid for the real thing :)
