Triumph reunites!

Post by Cail »

Holy crap!

And they're playing Rocklahoma as well!

Mike Levine was on Eddie Trunk's show tonight talking about it, and it sounds like they're planning a full tour.

Edit-I suspect I may be the only non-Canuck to care about this, but so what.

That would be cool!
I like them a lot even if they do sound like Rush.

Triumph sounds NOTHING like Rush, which is a shame, because Rush RULES. Boy, this forum has gone to hell since dAN left.

I've never understood the Triumph/Rush comparison. Both Canuck trios, but that's about the extent of it.

I have to admit that there are at least a few similarities between Rush and Triumph. I think Triumph's more popular songs have the same flavor as early 80's Rush. There of course is the comparison between vocalists, both find comfort in the same higher ranges. The musical arrangements of certain songs are living in the same ball park. If you are a huge fan of either group and have a wide variety of their songs in your head you probably wouldn't immediately notice the similarities. I've heard nearly every Rush song there is to listen to and have paid attention to maybe 5 Triumph songs, and those five sound a little like Rush.

On the other hand I would never confuse one band with the other under any circumstances.

.. yah, here in Canuk-land Triumph was quite well known in the 80s and the comparisons did arise, however they are very different bands.
A funny story I remember about being in my garage band in the days ... we would do occassional Rush or other band songs for fun. One day our guitarist sits down with a Guitar Player magazine with some Rick Emmet stuff ... his fingers spread out along the frets --- his face contorts -- looks confused -- pauses, then says, "This is impossible! The man must have 15 cm long fingers!"

Made me laugh...

Of course the same goes for drum-god Neil Peart... how does he do some of thse things?... no comparison to Triumph's (ho hum) drummer....
