MTV is doing the time warp on a remake of 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."
Lou Adler, exec producer of the original film, is partnering with BermanBraun and Fox Television Studios on the new rendition.
Two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.
Helmer and casting decisions have yet to be announced.

MTV readies 'Rocky Horror' redux
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

This is a bad, bad idea.

Tim Curry's still alive. Let's have him do it again in all his bloatedness.
I don't understand why there is a need for a remake, quite frankly. Is it to be based more off the Broadway show?

Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life
It's a terrible, terrible movie that lives only through audience participation in theaters. A remake is utterly pointless, as it won't garner any of the cult following.

I won't buy the DVD. For me the whole point was the audience participation. But, that was college before at least half of the Watchers were even born...Cail wrote:It's a terrible, terrible movie that lives only through audience participation in theaters. Ah heck, we have enough movies by now. We should just start over and remake every damn one. Right from the beginning with silent movies.
I can't wait for the Star Wars prequel remakes, myself.
Why doesn't anyone ever remake books? I'm going to start on my new and improved Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. You'll need 5 dictionaries to get through this one, by the time I'm done adding obscure words Donaldson never even dreamed about. I might even make some up. An entire Chronicles written Jabberwocky style.

I must agree that remaking this movie is pointless and disturbing on several levels.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

I agree totally with Jenn...what a colossal waste of time, energy and money. Not only can Curry not be replaced you can't top Sarandon "Dammit Janet!"

where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.
