The Mist [2007]

Post by High Lord Tolkien »

(I looked for an existing thread on this but didn't see it, merge it if there is one already. I don't mind)

Finally saw this movie.

OUTSTANDING!

I never heard anything about it when it was released and I only read the first 3rd of the King story so I didn't know what to expect.

It was really well done.
I opened my medicine cabinet this morning and there was a pretty big flying insect like a thin moth on the inside.........it creeped me out.
It's one of those movies you think about the next day.

I liked the cast and I liked the fact that they didn't spend a lot of time setting things up. The whole thing got started in the first ten minutes or so.

And the ending.
Oh man!
I thought it was slightly possible they would end it that way but didn't think they'd stray from the typical Hollywood happy ending like that.

I highly recommend this one.

We've talked about it in other threads, but it's cool having another one.

I think it's a great film. Between Marcia Gay Hardin's character and the ending, it's a really hard-hitting movie. Loved it.

(Funny, I said the same thing when I stared a thread for it. :) [ link])

No, I figured there was a thread already.
Thanks.

But.....you never said what you thought of the film in that thread.
Did you ever see it?

I thought the same thing that ItisWritten said about the ending where it reminding him of Kevin's despair.

David clearly loved his son.
There were so many little things, getting the comic book, promising to keep him away from the monsters...the ending just broke my heart.

I also liked how the earth shook in the beginning.
I guess that was the "window" breaking or closing.

Good movie, but I was seriously bummed out over the ending.

I loved the movie. The ending was amazing, and disturbingly ironic.

I loved the movie, too. As I said in that other thread it was the best horror/scifi movie I've seen in ages. I really didn't think they would do it at the end. And yes, it stays with you for a bit.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

I already posted about it in the "Best Stephen King Adaptation" thread; briefly, it pissed me off, and I hated it.

Sure it stays with me, since I reacted so strongly, but I didn't enjoy it.

I watched this last night although i've never read the book. Best film i've seen in a long while. Awesome.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
