I went to Scott Brick's website to look for a release date for the audio version of TIW, and found this blog about the story behind Brick's article "Who killed Gwen Stacy?" You can find the .pdf file here.
Interesting stuff. Discuss.

No need to discuss. I have Spiderman 121. 'Nuff said! Then again, later issues implied that the Gwen killed in SM 121 was in fact a clone.....and even later there was the 'Dear Peter' letter given to Spidey after she died, where she admitted to having an affair with Norman Osborne, which got her pregnant with twins that Norman altered to give them super-powers....mebbe I'll visit that site!

Norman Osborne has his finger in every pie in the Spiderman universe. Remember when Miles Warren (Jackal) just ended up being Osborne's bitch? Good stuff. Anyway Osborne's involvement in the cloning arc could have something to do with this perhaps. Anyway, great article, dlb. I think I've heard of it.

Yes, it is. It's funny that so many people remember that issue so well. I've said it before, so I may as well say it again; Spiderman 121 & 122 had the most impact on me that any other story arc before or since. The deaths of Betty Banner, Karen Page, and Jean Grey are also powerful stories; but Gwen Stacy's death was almost like losing a personal friend.

Gwen Stacy and Sue Storm are the genesis of my blonde infatuation.
My copy of 121 (Marvel Tales I think) has the "snap".
I always assumed that was what killed her.
Although the idea that she was already dead by that point still makes the tragic point that either way Peter would have killed her.
